Object: 1st bicycle ride in a decade
and I could hardly keep my balance at first LOL
I think it could stand some new grease too in the wheel bearings, but
hope it just holds up for 20 blocks tomorrow, before I do all that.
It is only to save whats left of my poor 11 year old automatic
transmission on my car, until I fix my truck decent.
New cars sure are expensive these days, with all that airbag and
emission crap:-(
Technically, cant ride on sidewalk, I think, but they dont ticket me
for j-walking, and my street is high speed danger highway ( not freeway
).
Then ticket me, who cares, and if cops want the bike, take it and lube
it yourself LOL

I find it very difficult to keep my balance on a bicycle nowadays. I
didn't have that problem as a kid. I think all that weight I've put on
makes the center of mass much higher than it was when I was a skinny
kid. Also, I think several of the meds I'm taking now make me unsteady.

Airbags do save lives, though, and clean air is nice.

Another problem for bicyclists is that unlike a car, a bicycle doesn't
trigger the traffic lights, so the bicyclist has to push the
pedestrians' button to get the lights to switch.

make sure you ride on the proper side. i was on a very busy road, biked 1/4
mile in the wrong direction to find a place to cross, had an accident, and
it was ruled my fault. and watch the sidewalks. if you hit a pedestrian in
America, they can probably sue you for medical bills.

i am also on a highway (65 to 75 mph typically). a lot of people ride
bikes, the recumbents even, there is a bike path about 25 miles away. dunno
how far it goes, i will explore it one day. they get off the bike path, and
insist on riding on the local highways for many miles.

Me too. I hadn't been on as much as a pedal bike in two decades. Now I
have a Kymco Super 9 (50cc scooter). Top speed with the variator
restricter still in place: 30 MPH. I white knuckled it at times down some
country roads with a 45 MPH speed line. A line of angry drivers behind me.
Well screw them. I paid for a license and I pay taxes on the gas so that
piece of road is mine while I'm on it.
