My friend who lives in town just gave me an update, of course they're
people who have hit the big time. I didn't even know they were having
it, my friend just found out last week.
One guy who was in my crowd runs a hedge fund, and I am going to buff a
floor this weekend.

My 25th is next month. I showed up very briefly for my 10th and hated it.
I went to my 20th and enjoyed it. It had a lot to do with me, my outlook
on life and how I was feeling about myself. I was this shy odd introvert
in high school. I also think that having gone to a small Catholic school
through 8th grade where the class size was maybe 25 did not prepare
me for the experience of having about 500 in my class. I was just too
out of place. What surprised me about my 20th reunion is people actually
remembered me, talked to me, seemed to be glad I was there.
I have changed a great deal from who I was then to who I am now. More
outgoing, not so worried about the impression I make, not scared of
messing up. I was surprised how little some people had changed
physically. A couple of the women were just as hot, course I never
stood a chance back then and it doesn't matter now since I'm happy
and married. A bunch of the guys were these bald headed beer gut
old men and I wondered what they were doing there. I still have hair
but it is thinning and graying these past few years. And I only have
about 10 extra pounds on me so I don't look too old yet. Plus I never
looked my age anyway. It was tough being 19 and stores thinking I was
16. Glad I don't look 43 yet.
This year will be slightly different. I get to tell people I'm starting
over career wise and that I am job hunting. So I'm not rich, but I've
grown up okay. No drugs, no tabacco, little alcohol, good marriage of
almost 20 years, two very smart daughters and not deep in debt.
Not too bad a record.
If you go have a good time and be yourself. You have nothing to try
to prove to anybody. If you don't go then that's fine also but do it
because you can't make it not because there may be someone there
that never grew up and matured and may show their stupidity by saying
something.

and I thought you were older than me. I was wrong. Did my 20 year last
summer, went to one evening of it. Wasn't much to it.

Did you meet up with any old friends? I envision that the 20th would be
the worst, as far as "how successful/crappy has your life been" kinda
thing. I don't know, I haven't been to one yet.
What's weird is these people in my mind are still high schoolers.
People I haven't even really thought about for 20 years. Then suddenly,
their corporate executives with kids? Huh? How the hell did that happen?

You probably would not have wanted to meet those people.
Oh, and don't say "I am going to buff a floor this weekend".
Say "I run my own company with 15 employees" (or however many
there are).
