a friend of mine is currently a patient at the Meadows... |
in arizona. she's been there 3 months now. (i go to church with her). i
just looked it up online. it's $33,500 per month!!!!!!

that's not all that much. the state-run hospital i worked at was up
to about $800/day (24000/mo). that was cheaper than psych units in
regular hospitals, and had better care, too.

well the place my friend is at is kind of one of those country club type
places. fancy schmancy rooms and all that. i guess $33.500 isn't all that
bad for a month, but she's been there 3 already. i wonder if insurance
covers any of it?

I think insurance would cover some of it. I can't remember how much the
treatment center I lived at cost. I think it was less than that, but I
was there a whole year. We didn't pay a thing for it. I was sponsered by
the court.

Wowzers, indeed. I think Tru is right, though, that's
"reasonable" compared to what's out there. Maybe that kind
of investment will have the benefit of strengthening her
resolve to do what she has to do to stay well after she
leaves. Maybe. I wish her the best.

hey gayle. i've been missing you. :)
i guess you're right...$33,500 per month isn't so unheard of. it just seems
really high when you look at the dollar amount. this place she is staying
is the same place Whitney Houston went for rehab. (the Meadows). my friend
has PTSD and severe depression. this is her 3rd month there so far so she
must really be in bad shape. :/
