i needed to be less tortured and less genius. (in reality she didn't think
i was either, she said.) you had to be there.
i have a nasty habit of using pastiche or cut and paste, and it's not meant
to be taken literally.

the word is way overused. i recall an article about the death of a "genius"
teenager. turns out he got his MCSE at age 12 or something. and it kept
saying he was a certified engineer, which is misleading. MCSE is just some
silly Microsoft certification and has little to do with professional
engineering. then the article goes on to say he went to college at age 15
or 16. ok, lots of people do that, and i guess some are geniuses and some
are not. i went to school at age 17, so what, it depends on the quality of
high school, etc. anyway it turns out the university he went to was some
Florida International College of Engineering (?). some place i had never
heard of. geniuses typically (but not always) get full rides to Ivy
Leagues, MIT, etc.
i think the article was full of crap, and he was merely a self-professed
genius or labelled that by his parents or misguided small-town teachers.
i gotta go to work. yeah i work a simple job, so much for my string theory
career.
