Object: Abilify side efect. Require Help
I started taking Abilify yesterday and today, I beggan felling extremily
axius and panic attacks came to me.
Its kind of Nick Le Lievre (upper post) symtom description, as he tells, I
cant relax adn everything is wrong... I dont know if this is becasu I am
beging or is it becuase I not compatible with this medicine.
Now, there is somthing interestion... I used to take Torecan
(metoclopramide) which is a Dopamine antagonist, and caused me a very
similiar effect... the thing is, that Abilify, is an agonist of dopamine
and serotonine, and that would mean, htat I should not play with my brains
dopamine.
I dont know... Does anybody know anything about this?

Abilify is not a dopamine agonist. It is a dopamine antagonist. What
distinguishes Abilify (and other atypical antipsychotics) from the
older ("typical") antipsychotics is that the degree of effective
antagonism is different in the different dopamine pathways in the
brain, instead of being the same for all of them. The net effect can
even be to increase dopamine activity in part of the brain. However,
it is most definitely a dopamine antagonist.

I start aripiprazole tomorrow, so I can't say yet, but it certainly
isn't listed in the package leaflet, and that goes down to 'Less than 1
in 10,000'.

The opinions given above may be mine. They might also
just be what I feel like saying right now, okay?
