About Maria and I (for women mostly) |
Well we went to town. Very difficult with my ex, but that was not the important
aspect of the day. Because of being so non-functional of late (except for my
work), I am a poor mama. But today we needed to get my 11 year old two bras.
It was so funny and delightful to watch her prancing about, half shy and half
coy. I remember being the same at her age.
And now the biggest thing has happened. Her time of the month started in the
store. She is so scared and excited about its meaning. Not in physical terms,
but in the sense that she is now a young lady. The event really affected me. It
brought home so strongly that I need to cope and do better to be there for her
through these next teen years.
She is quite emotional and sensitive, and a truly rare beauty in appearance
(her Italian blood shows), and she will need protection and a constant
dependable mother. I need to be that. What happened today just made so plain
the responsibility of her and the gift that that is. Gawd! My little girl is
actually growing up into a young woman, and only a second ago I birthed her.

OH my my, how quickly they grow, I am so glad I had a boy, I really dont
think I could have coped with bra fittings and menstruation, its hard enough
watching the fuzz on your baby boys face, grow into whiskers. And that
smooth chest get covered with a mat of hair. And that piping little voice,
suddenly become a rich baritone.
They grow way to quickly.
Good luck to you and Maria.

What an exciting day for the two of you, Rosena!
Will y'all have a little celebration ritual of some sort to mark the
passage? The book "Circle of Stones" by (I think) Judith Duarte
taps into a lot of these feelings, I found it very helpful.
Take care & have a good weekend!

What a beautiful post. Maria is blessed to have such a loving, and
sensitive mother in her life. Thanks for helping me start my day on such a
positive note.
