No,I don't...not at all...I often wish that everyone was a
democrat...It makes me upset sometimes that everyone isn't as liberal
as I am...I think my political and religious ideas are very good,and I
don't understand often why most people don't feel the way I
do...However,what I try very hard to do,and I know I've been getting
much better at it...is to focus on what people have in common,to
seperate the person from their political positions...I don't like it
when people turn me into a one dimensional cartoon,and the last thing I
want to do is do that to other people...and I really admire the fact
that you engage in lots of dialougues with people who think differently
then you do...I think that THAT is what helps keep friendships going
through strong differances of opinion...If everyone was willing to
engage in dialogue with people who think differently then they do,the
world would be a better place...

When I was younger (more innocent perhaps) I would wonder how someone could
not share my beliefs, etc. I would especially wonder about prejudice and
how it was even possible in this day and age for well-educated adults to be
racist or sexist or judgmental of homosexuals or think they can catch AIDS
by shaking someone's hand. The common answer is "ignorance" but how can you
receive even your basic liberal arts education and still be "ignorant"?
It's still beyond me.
Okay now that I've started I can't shut up....Was it last month that the
religious right got all up in arms about spongebob and the other children's
characters encouraging tolerance? Tolerance? We have to teach people to
"tolerate" each other. That is so sad. This is 2005. I still can't
believe that if a woman or a non-white successfully ran for american
president it would be a big deal. ARGH!!!!!!
