Hi packrat,
Your posts are no bother at all. Its hard sometimes to see past
everything and to have hope but you can, and will. I think a lot of us
can empathize with what you're going through.

not a pain in the ***** at all. you're hurting. i wish i could do
something for you. i'd hug you tight if you were here, but
internet 'huggies' seem completely inadequate.
can you get a lawyer to work for a percentage of the back
support? even a large percentage would be better than leaving
things the way they are.

nope, thing about divorce court in this state, you ask for the support and
have a one time shot. My lawyer didn't petition for it, even though he told
me he was. I'm almost convinced that he had something on the side with my
ex's lawyer to not fight for my side because there's so much he dropped the
ball on, it's unreal in how much I got ripped off in the divorce and from my
lawyer. When the 60 days were in process of going through for the divorce
to be final from the hearing, I begged for my lawyer to fight for that back
child support and for my son's educational IRA and for a few more things, he
refused to and let it all slide, completely ignored my phone calls till it
all went through. There wasn't enough time nor money to go back in in that
period of time to hire another lawyer to fight for me, since mine that I
paid good money for didn't. He sat back and enjoyed watching me get *****
on. Then no lawyer within my state is willing to sue another lawyer for
malpractice, which is what happened. The judge looked past so many
indiscretions and lack of evidence on my ex, yet I had to show everything
and have proof. I don't know what I walked into, either a bought judge and
lawyer, or a complete male dominated, biased court.
I had to pay for yet another lawyer to file the paperwork to obtain access
to the retirement money I was granted in the divorce, but that hasn't
happened either.
You get the point where to hire another lawyer to fight for something for
you seems like just a waste because the 4 lawyers I had in my previous town
***** on me. As did the judge and my ex.
Which causes me to go back and look, is it me? I'm just not worth
representation.

I've been wondering about something. Here in Ontario if I needed to address
any of these issues I can go through the Family and Child Services office.
They assign a paralegal to represent me for free in family court. What
benefits me ultimately benefits my children and because Ontario takes
children's rights seriously they are willing to fight diligently for
fairness. Don't you have a similar service there?
As for your lawyer. Here he could be reported to the Upper Canada Law
Society who watchdogs lawyers. I might not be able to sue him but he would
be investigated. And it would stay on his record if this ever happens
again. Enough reports and he can be disbarred. What about the ACLU? Or
any advocacy group who will take on gender rights cases. Seems to me you
have a good one.
