Another neighbor story - yes, I'm a dork. |
x-no-archive: yes
Holy crap. I accidentally locked wombn and me out of the house. I was
heading out to go for my run. Check all the doors and windows, only
window open is the tiny one to the bathroom. So I manage to crawl into
it part way.
My hips and thighs were too wide, I had to sort of twist to get through
it. The problem was that this window is over the bathtub. There was
absolutely nothing for me to grab onto to brace myself and maneuver down
into the tub. I would have just flopped head first in. Then my thighs
were kind of stuck in the window, I couldn't move at all at that point
without risking a fall. And the metal tracks for the window were
jamming into my thigh, it hurt like heck.
So, I was stuck. Torso and head inside, legs outside, holding myself up
by bracing the outside of the house. I finally told wombn to get help.
So she goes to the nice neighbor lady next door. Takes forever, my
arms started to tire and at this point I was panicking and starting to
scream for help. I really thought I would fall and break my neck, there
was no way to crawl in, I would have just flopped in head first.
Finally the son comes running to help, he's in his 20's. He grabbed
hold of one leg, which allowed me to bring the other leg in. If he
hadn't done that I would have slid in with both legs and fell. So as
soon as he came it was over. I go back around to the other side of the
house and the neighbor lady is hugging wombn, wombn was just sobbing
because she couldn't explain to the lady what was happening and she
could hear me yelling.
Oi, how embarrassing.
So, I want to go back and thank them again, esp. the son. I feel like I
should bring something like a cake or something, because this woman has
brought us food several times. My mom says just go over and thank them
again, I don't need to bring food. That guy really saved my bacon, I
was starting to really panic.

What a great story Thor, maybe a gift card for dinner or Best Buy or
something. Does he have a nice vehicle you could get him a gift card for a
detailing place. I can only imagine how panicked you were feeling... Poor
Wombn, is she ok? I bet her frustration holds no bounds. Take care of each
other Thor

You're wife is a sweety. Best part of the story. Except for your hiney
stuck in a window. That may technically be the best part of the story.
/You know what you bring the woman? A DVD player (39 bucks at walmart)
and a DVD of Daniel O'Donnell , called 'Songs of Faith'. She'll trip
out on it, I promise.

I agree with your mom, just go say thanks again. Bring something some
other time if you wish, best if it isn't directly associated with the
aid you got today. Let the neighbor feel good about helping, not paid
off.
thanks what I think, anyway.

That sounds good. If you are entirely too shy/whatever of
doing it in person, send a card.
I send gift certificates for food. Avoids all the diet,

You know, I'm just going to bring something. I want to. Not just for
today, but I want to say thank you and show some effort into it, even if
I buy something and they give it to the dog, I don't care. This lady is
just so sweet and nice, I want to thank her and just be neighborly.

I agree. As Gayle said this neighbor appears to show caring through food so
I think it would be appropriate to return the gesture in kind. And you're
not a dork. If you ever end up gagged, wearing leather chaps, and
handcuffed to a dead hooker, THAT will be embarrassing. Being stuck in a
window is just regular human stuff that happens to thousands of people. :-)

Yer mom is right, imo, you don't "need"
to bring food. But I vote for the cake.
This woman has shown you she speaks her
caring through giving food. You'd really
be speaking her language if you gave
some, too. imo.
