ASD is weird... |
I imagine many people who have been on here for a while occasionally
feel this way...that there is something strange about these
newsgroups.Sometimes I get images of people on here, what they look
like, what they are doing, where they live...(sometime I just get images
of all kinds of weird things...)it's like the people on here are a
part of my life...yet they are not. It's kind of strange,a paradox.we
know the people on here, yet we don't know them.we share ourselves, but
only parts of ourselves, bits and pieces, and glimpses...we think we
really know who everyone is,yet it's so hard to get the full,3
dimensional picture of the person, especially when you are
diassapointed or angry with the person...and yet we feel we know all
there is to know about them...we can talk to who we want, when we
want, and we can ignore who we want when we want...ASD can be like a
soap opera where we follow the plots,or a secret familly that you can
see and talk to when you wish and then avoid when you wish...

I like the weirdness of ASD. I have been around for about 7 years and while I
am not as active as I used to be I still kick the dirt and hang out and read.
I am useless in any other way anymore.
To me ASD represents a very normal family. From what I have witnessed out in
reality with families, ASD is AOK and actually better than MOST families.
I'll be an asd subscriber forever I bet.

I've been digging around the 1901 census site that the British
Government put up on the www.
And I found my dad's parents there, Grampa was 14 that year and
Gramma was 7. In other words, my grandparents were Victorians!
What does that make me? Well, I'm an Elizabethan. Have been all
my life.
My dad, on the other hand, couldn't make up his mind. He started
out as a Georgian, became an Edwardian, then a Georgian again,
and finished by becoming an Elizabethan. Men. They seem to find
it so hard to commit to anything.
Still, I expect to become a Carolingian sometime before I slough
off this mortal coil. The good Lord willin' and the creek don't
rise.

Don't hold your breath; the women in that family seem to go on for a long
time. I wouldn't be surprised if Elizabeth puts in another 20 years.
I was born a Georgian.
My grandmother could remember welcoming the boys home from the Boer war,
and grew up in a London with no motor vehicles (just a few steam wagons)
or telephones. She lived to watch TV as men first walked on the moon, and
years later to know her great-grandson.
My mother has fond memories of people running into the school to tell the
teachers 'there's an aeroplane coming!!' so that the children could be
taken out into the playground to wonder at the miracle, and wave to the
pilot - who would often have a supply of sweets to throw out to the
children as he passed :))
