I don't know if anyone still reads it, but I've just dropped a story in
it. It would be nice to have comments - the last two I posted got no
response.

It's not long (by my standards) and mostly dialogue, which I find the
easiest to read. I'm wondering if I need to spell things out more.

I've been reading it. Umm, we don't seem to carry that NG, I know
it's preferable to reply in the group of original posting. There
are earlier episodes posted? If so I might look them up. (Umm,
like I intend to but who knows if I will)
I liked the earlier police one with Verdi. There's more to that
also, I assume? Ever read any Bujold?

Lots. A complete novel, plus most of a second, and sketches for two
more, and short stories. She's an outlet for the violence I don't feel.
:)

Ever read any Bujold?

The early ones only, I think. I haven't been trying to read Sci-fi for
some time. It's difficult to read these days.

There's a reply already, so it must be individual.net that's being slow.
When I started reading asd, some servers took several days to get posts.

Individual.net is usually very reliable; they do try to filter out spam and
'binaries', but that shouldn't catch your story. I also get the ASD*
groups from my ISP's server, which doesn't try to filter anything, and your
story isn't there either.

It is on the maxwell server, and two of other's of mine. I can't vouch
for ze german zerver, though.
On another note, there are programs for linux that can pull multiple
severs just like Hamster can, like newsbinder and newsstar, and I am sure
there are more like that out there. I haven't tested them (mainly because
I can't be asked to configure a linux desktop now that I have managed to
cut down on my computing time), but grab 'em from freshmeat and give 'em
a try.

I'm using "Leafnode". It isn't a patch on "Hamster", but it works and it
creates 'local groups' in the same way as Hamster. Linux/Unix abounds in
news-server programs, but Leafnode is basic enough to work on most systems
and lots of people use it, so there's plenty of volunteer support.
"NewsStar" looks as though it would be a more complete equivalent to
"Hamster", but it seems to be designed to work best on Debian systems, and
so far I haven't managed to get it working on Mandrake.

It's a newsgroup in the asd hierarchy: alt.depression.depression.writing
You have to point your newsreader at it, assuming your server carries
it.

Not every server carries it. We had a struggle to get it carried by more
than a few (mine carries anything), and it's been so lightly trafficked
recently, perhaps some have dropped it.

Please do. I want especially to know if the dialogue works. It should be
the easiest to keep track of - one man, one woman.
I'm thinking through a real challenge - seven women, school-friends, and
their teacher, having a meal together. No nice he/she, can't use names
every time. It could turn into a logic puzzle. You know the type, 'If
the woman with red hair is sitting next to the woman with the crucifix,
and the woman with the blue scarf is opposite the woman with the ankle
boots, who is wearing the green dress?'
Ooh! I hate these sneaky ideas. I wonder... :)

Read it, liked it, flows well, very 'visual' style - you can really
'see' the scene in detail (which is great, because I don't get to see
attractive women licking melting icecream off a spoon - or anywhere else
- that often).

Thanks. I see anything I'm writing, and try to put it in words. As for
Lucia, she's not good looking, but men find her attractive, and she
likes men. She promised after one, seriously bad affair, never to have
anything to do with men shorter than her, but her husband and her lover
(cicisbeo) are both shorter.
