Object: birds are messy (ot)
when the finches eat from the tube feeder, a lot of food falls to the
ground. even though some of it gets picked up by doves and finches, there is
*a lot* of leftover food to clean up.
at least they don't poop on my patio. my guess is that they poop when they
are in safe places, up in the trees or on rooftops or in flight.
i'm still hoping that my bird friends will drop "poop bombs" on obnoxious
neighbors. :)

It is true that birds will drop seed to the ground from the
feeders.
It is true that doves (by which I assume you mean pigeons) will
feed on the ground.
But I don't think finches are ground feeders. So I think you
might be making this part up.

Birds will poop wherever they are when the urge strikes. They
don't wait till they're in "safe" places. If they're hanging
around a feeder, they'll crap in that area.
So I know you are making this part up.

Wishful thinking, kid. Wishful thinking.

no, there is not much bird poop on my patio. a couple of tiny droppings,
perhaps, but nothing significant.
