blog requesting people's experiences in therapy |
Hello, hate to be so self-promoting, but I just started a new blog
where
I ask people to send to me ANONYMOUSLY any
ridiculous/disappointing/funny/unprofessional/inadequate experiences
they may have had with their
therapist/psychiatrist/psychologist/social worker. All experiences
will be kept ANONYMOUS (the blog explains how to do this). I'm just
interested to see what people are experiencing personally in their
therapy sessions and if therapy works. The blog is a forum to address
any inadequacies patients may have experienced during their therapy.
Below is the info:
http://badshrink.blogspot.com
email:
You can email your experiences (without using any names -- just say
Patient or Therapist) OR you can type your experience in the comment
section of the blog and I will post it.
Thanks and best wishes.
Terry

You make it sound as though I'm doing something wrong. Am I? THey can
log all they want -- believe me, I'm the least of their problems.
Also, I myself log every visitor that goes to my site just to get an
idea of the demographics. So I guess there's a lot of information
flying around. I'm not different than, say, parents groups who
demonstrate against ADD medicine for kids and who aren't Scientologists
either. What's your argument?

I never said you were doing anything wrong. You're reading too much into
it. I'm saying that you say you can guarantee anonimity, but this is in
fact false. Sounds like you're luring people into a false sense of
security.

You have a point. That's why I recommend they post their experience as
a comment and they can remain anonymous. Would you be so afraid of
criticizing a former dentist online? A former teacher who was abusive?
Look, I've already gotten a couple brave souls who have given me
stories, and I don't think it's a big deal. People show their genitals
on the web all the time. This pales in comparison.

No, because once they access the page once, their IP, geographical
location, ISP, browser, OS, and platform are all logged.

That has nothing to do with the fact that you guarantee anonymity, when
in fact, it's far from it.

Who is "they" that is doing all the logging (interesting that you wrote
in the passive voice). I can only promise anonymity ... but really,
what else would I do with that information? Call their former shrinks?
Call NAMA? Victims or at least those let down, should have a forum to
vent, share, and laugh. It's supposed to be a darly comical blog that
endorses no religion (you know which one I'm talking about). I still
think the COMMENTS method is the best, at least until I get a P.O. box
where people can snail-mail me their experiences.

You don't have the information. Blogspot does.

Not the point. Here it is one more time: You give people a false
sense of security by promising anonymity.

I have no idea what you're talking about regarding a known religion.

Ok, good for you, but don't promise anonimity when you can't.

This isn't a website Terry. Google Groups is a farce and a for-profit
enterprise. I'm not using GG. It's USENET, and it's never promised
anonimity like you have. You're a liar Terry, when you promise something
you know isn't going to happen, that makes you a liar and a foney. Oh,

Yeah, like I'm a real villain with evil intentions and connections to
Eli Lilly. Right. You know I didn't know any better and when I
promised I meant it -- I was just going to cut and paste the stories
and delete the emails altogether. Seemed simple enough. Guess it
wasn't. Somebody here could have suggested a better method or NICELY
pointed out its weakness of the method. And all this vindictiveness
from you people -- jeesh. Is it really because of this anonymous issue
or did I kill some sacred cow by acknowledging that not all shrinks are
good? I wonder. I never promised something I didn't "know isn't going
to happen" because I meant what I said on my blog. Anyway, it looks
like your sincerely wishing me luck, so I'll take it. Hope everything
works out foryou all and I'm looking forward to those anonymous posts.

Well, in Slunky's world, is the Anonymous Comment method workable in
terms of giving a reasonable amount of anonymity for the nonparanoid
person (and please don't ask me to define nonparanoid). On a scale of
1-10, 10 being safest about ensuring anonymity, what would you give it.
I'd really be interested to know but like I said, people are their own
free agents and can decide how much risk they want to take on their
own. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything and I'm certainly not
"luring" anyone either. -- Terry

REPLY: Sure seems that way doesn't it? But no, I don't expect anyone
here to want anything to do with it except to say nasty things and try
to sabotage it ... which would be sad. I initiated this discussion
because I thought it would be a massive response of "Oh my god, I had
this one shrink 3 years ago ..." You know, a real strong feedback,

lot of joking going around.
Anyway, I guess this is what happens when you have a cold and have
nothing better to do. It just seemed like an original idea --
especially since nobody dares question or criticize a shrink.

i know, but it's that nihilistic, "***** it, nothing matters" kind of joking
that tips you off to the fact that this is just a bunch of no-goodniks who
basically don't give a ***** about anything except the cat and the women's

i haven't seen a shrink in four years, but when i was seeing them i
questioned and critized them all the time, both to their faces and in
various discussion places. still, i think they do more good than harm. if
it wasn't for them and the pills, i'd be dead now. fwiw.
