Blue Qestion of the Day |
If your dad got remarried after your mother passed away and his new
wife hated you after meeting you only 3 times and you had no idea
where the hatred came from, what would you do?

I personally have decided that I don't want to spend any more time
hurting over it. I truly was curious what others around here would do
if they were faced with the same situation. I know the steps I took
over the past several months, and what the results were, so I figured
I'd see if there would be any new insight I hadn't considered.

it just doesn't seem worth the effort, kenster. unfortunately, she seems
determined to not get along with you regardless of your efforts, so there
isn't really much point in continuing to try. it will only cause you more
heartache and it's doubtful that she will suddenly change!! deep down,
she's probably jealous of the fact that your mom was your dad's first wife,
and you are just a reminder of that. it's nothing against you personally
most likely. it sounds like it's just her own hang ups.

I'm afraid of what I might do to her if I got close enough to talk to
her. She has hurt my wife in a big way and I just don't go for that.
She's on my shitlist now.

Firstly I would make sure that she disliked me by asking her directly.
(just in case I might be imagining the dislike as happens when I'm
depressed).
If she had a problem with me, then I'd ask her to explain what the
problem was and try to work it through with her.
If she refused to be honest with me, or talk about it, I would keep
myself away from her negative influence.
If I still wanted to have a relationship with my father, I would do so
without the presence of the step-mother and I would make sure that my
father understood that I had tried to establish some kind of
relationship but the situation appeared to be without hope.
If he didn't accept the new terms of the relationship, I would let him
know that I loved him and still wanted to have contact with him
however if it meant that I had to be around the mother that disliked
me in order to have that relationship, well all bets were off. If he
changed his mind, I would still be open to it though.
At least, this is what I _think_ I would do, however one doesn't
really know what you would really do until you are actually in that
situation.
All the best Ken,
Kenster
