Books on depression, anxiety, anger. What are your recommendations? |
I have benefitted greatly from doing the writing exercises over and
over again in Feeling Good by David Burns and A New Guide to Rational
Living by Albert Ellis. Which books have helped you the most?

you never know what books might be helpful... sometimes you just
read the right book(or the right sentance or paragraph) at the right
time... I still find "the portable therapist" to be helpful because of
it's views about the "being" model of life vs. the "doing" model of
life... that's definatly the way I see it as well... some books work
on certain levels, but maybe not on other levels...
One thing I read a while ago that I thought was interesting was
the "bitter or better" choice, that when difficult things happen to
us, it can make us either bitter or better... that we have that
choice... I try to remind myself of that, becuse it can be very
difficult to chose the "better" option...

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
by Jesse A. Stoff (Author), Charles R. Pellegrino (Author)
Paperback: 384 pages
Publisher: Perennial; 2nd Rev edition (March 1992)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0060922605
ISBN-13: 978-0060922603
Written by two doctors who are best friends, one is healthy, the other
doesn't know what the hell is wrong with him but feels like he's going to
die.
It talks a lot about their attempts to diagnose and treat a disease that,
at the time, was believed not to exist...
Amusingly enough after reading it I don't believe CFS exists... I think
it's nothing more than physical symptoms of depression.
