How about gymastics, diving, ice-skating, or any other sport involving
judges?
(5) What is the only sport in which the ball is always in the possession of

Not quite true as written. When the ball has been batted and is in
the air, or has been dropped, or is on the the way out of the park,
and maybe other circumstances, it is not in the possession of the
defense.

How does a batter get on base because of a passed ball??

How does a batter get on base because of a passed ball??
I think that is the scoring if a catcher uses his mask to scoop the ball on
a ball in play. There is a base awarded any time the catcher uses his
equipment to stop the ball, including throwing the glove.
I don't have any support for this besides my memory though.
I think it was a Tigers game when the catcher, a guy who always carried his
mask instead of throwing it away, blocked a pitch and scooped it up with the
face mask and threw down to first. As I remember it there was a big umpire
meeting and they decided instead of 'out at first' or 'safe at first' it
must have been a foul ball after all.
