Your jaw does that, too? Mine's been driving me crazy. It's little
better since I dropped one of my meds, but still.... Do you know what
causes it? 'Cause I'd love any clues on how to stop it.

oh one of the AD's my endo put me on just prior to the thyroid
diagnosis did that to me, too. headaches like you would not believe.
oh maybe you would.
I can't remember which one it was. It was an SSRI, that's all I can
remember. Celexa??
I hate my memory.

Yup, I got the headaches, too. It just never crossed my mind that a
med could be *causing* them...I kept thinking it was the anxiety
itself. I just kept taking pain relievers (tylenol with codeine) and
not mentioning anything. Then the jaw chimed in and I got suspicious.

I can't remember which one it was. It was an SSRI, that's all I can
remember. Celexa??

In my case, I think it's serotonin building up, so that makes sense.
I'm a lot better off the buspar, which I took on top of generic
Serzone, another AD that works on serotonin, and wellbutrin (well, all
are generics, but they are easier to spell this way). I think the two
serotonin drugs were working in tandem.
Being off of the buspar hasn't adversely affected my anxiety, so I've
been hopeful that that will be that. But yesterday I was very, very
depressed in the morning. Course, there were reasons to be and it may
have had nothing to do with the med.

I hate my memory.

I hate mine, too. {{{}}}}

mine's stress-related. i do it when my depression's bad and i'm
fighting urges for suicide and self-injury. before the
depression, i'd clench my teeth when i was on a very tight
deadline at work.

I don't know if mine is stress or the meds. The problem popped up a
few months ago and has been much more aggravating and painful than it
should be by the sounds of it. Going OFF buspar seems to have helped
some, so it might be a side effect. But I'd been on that stuff for
years.
In fact, the weird thing is nothing had changed: my meds, my
situation. Dunno what to think.

I'm getting old enough to wonder what's age, what's the illness, and

Dr. Dean Edell (big talk radio doc on the west coast) said the best
treatment for TMJ was shaking your chin with your hand several times a
day. Which means you have to relax it enough for it to swing freely.
Hard to do! It doesn't take big shaking of course, it's not like our
arms or hands. Just being able to wiggle it with your hand and NOT
your jaw muscles is the goal.
It sure helped me.
Thor still can't figure out how to relax his jaw enough to do this.

normal and suggested some kind of "appliance". Yah sure, as if it isn't

nod. I first got TMJ after I had my wisdom teeth out (all 4 at once).
I don't know what they did to my jaw (IV). For a long time after
that, it would lock *open* if I put in anything bigger than the width
of a teaspoon. Freaky. Yawning was a problem for quite some time.
Years later, stress..... well you know about that.
