Stick to all those meaningful threads then. Like... worst movie,
favorite colour, preferred pasta, anything in caps, I just looove you,
etc. I could be inaccurate; my eyes, they glaze.
ASD is a buffet type deal.
Personally, I find Gayle's thread about Katie - heaping hate and
dismissal against people with "issues" - relevant to me.
I like talking to Mark because it feels like we are actually talking
about real stuff - even though we do it disrespectfully a lot of the
time. It's not fluff.
You may not. Whatever. But silly? No.

I think the whole thing is really incredibly pathetic. I hope MTV goes

she can actually attempt to take care of her kids. Jesus.

she's still shaving the sideburns.

I saw Jodie Foster saying something insightful about the situation
(the performance) "If she had only one person she really cared about
in the dressing room or at rehearsals, they would have told her it
wasn't going to work. You have to surround yourself with people like
your family who can tell you when you are about to look foolish."
Jodie must have a good family. I can picture my older brother:
"Sure, bri, you look great in that pirate costume, go out there, and
start your set with a Perry Como song, it'll be great. What? Oh yes,
the puffy shirt too....looks perfect."

At the end of her number, one could almost hear the audience
collectively thinking, "That'll do, pig...that'll do."

BTW, some dude on YouTube posted a vid of himself sobbing his way
through a startlingly vehement and impassioned defense of Spears. His
reward was megatons of flak from other YT users, followed by members of
the news media contacting him about his rant. Even after watching it,
it's still unimaginable to me how this callow youth could be reduced to
tears and screaming about the (IMO) richly warranted criticism of her
VMA performance. Watch this poor guy; this you won't believe:

and he really did just mean that britney was a pig. she certainly has let
herself go a bit. not that most of us don't, but then again, we don't
prance around on a stage in front of millions of people in a bikini
either. everyone around her tried to tell her not to wear the
bikini...that she didn't have the figure for it at the moment. but she
wouldn't listen. she did what she wanted to do anyway. like she always
does. and it just makes her look like an idiot, and it opens the door for
the press to go wild at her expense. she asked for it. she loves it. to
her, bad press is better than no press. don't ask me to feel sorry for
her. it's her kids i feel sorry for.
but i guess i'm in trouble now.

OK, now I get it. *Clearly* Nick was alluding to her dancing as
sheepdog-like behavior, and therefore his implication was that the male
dancers surrounding her were chickens being corralled.
If you watch carefully, in fact, at one point you can see her separating
the white ones from the brown ones! She was "schooling the herd"! =8^)

ha! but no "I" was thinking pig like behavior, I had no idea what Nick was
thinking, but as he now has posted he was quoting something Brit said about
herself.

Ah, I see. Well, not to debate the movie, but babe *did* do an
amazing job and I thought that when he said "Well done pig, well
done," that he was praising babe and was sincere, not patronizing. On
the other hand, imo Britney's performance was subpar and she didn't
deserve praise for her performance. But anyways, ok, now I can see
the reference in a different light with your explanation, if that *is*
what Nick meant. And if it is then I owe Nick an apology. However,
imho it was a bit of a poor choice of words seeing as one of the
issues being discussed is her weight, that she's was 'too fat'. My
original impression of what Nick meant by what he said isn't all that
hard to understand how I came to that conclusion, imho.
As for her letting herself go, sure I agree with that as far as her
behavior and her lifestyle. And yes, she doesn't have the same toned
body that she once did, however I still wouldn't consider what I saw
during her performance *anywhere* near fat, or having an overweight
body in any way. JMO. I agree that her outfit wasn't tasteful and,
sure, possibly warrants some criticism for her choice. Also her
dancing was in poor form, and I don't think anyone, even with a
perfect body, needs to dance around in a bikini anyways. I still
think that saying she didn't have the figure for it is inacurate as
far as I'm concerned. I wonder if she had given a stunning
performance if such a big deal would be made about the fact that she
has a few more pounds on her body than she used to.
I never said I feel sorry for her, but I think it's wrong to attack
her for what some call being overweight, in whatever words they use
for doing so, some of them truly cruel and I wouldn't use to describe
*anyone* at any weight. I think it's inaccurate and sends society,
particularly women and girls of all ages, a really strong message that
they have to fit this stereotypical perfect body. There are *far*
more women with what some would deem as 'imperfect' bodies than the
athletic, perfectly proportioned bodies. That's the point I'm trying
to make. And, there are far more things that Britney should be
concerned about than her weight atm. Criticize those things, but the
criticism of her weight is unfounded and unkind imho.
