I remember when you wrote to me. It meant so much.
This is for you.

Thank you so much, k4k. I don't know if your daughter told you, but I
recently corresponded with her when she was kind enough to answer a message
I left on Ray's website. What a special girl you're raising there!
This picture is one of the most precious treasures I've ever come across in
my life. When I couldn't find it again when I went to change it to my
Windows wallpaper, I was pretty upset. I'm very grateful to you and your
daughter for giving me new copies!
Look at this beautiful picture. Look at the happiness, the joy there. The
artist who did this was a very happy person -- full of fun and loving the
beauty in life. This is Ray to me. You told me once that you didn't want
people to remember only the tragedy when they think of Ray. I don't see how
anyone could do that once they've seen Ray's picture! That was one joyful,
expressive, full o' beans kiddo who coloured that!
I had to change that tense to 'was' when I originally wrote 'is', to satisfy
conventionalities, but Ray is very much an 'is' to me. Ray has been my
little buddy that I talk to from time to time - that's a gift you gave me
when you shared him with me - he's very real and present to me and I know in
my heart no matter what others believe that he exists and he hears me. I
once promised you that I would never forget him, and that's a promise I
haven't had to even *try* to keep, because he's become a natural part of my
life, thanks to the beautiful way you shared him with me, with us here. I
know he'll always be my little friend and I'll always talk to him, just like
I talk to my grandmother who's gone.
Thank you again, k4k. You did good. You're still doing good. You put a
beautiful piece of sunshine into the world when you had Ray. That sunshine
isn't completely gone -- just look at that picture. People who see that
picture can feel the sunshine; it just keeps going on and on.
You did good.
