Object: can i kill my kid?
he didn't show up on the school bus this afternoon. very
strange. i called the place where he sometimes volunteers time.
he wasn't there, either. called the school. i came to find out
that he signed up for the 5:00 late bus today, that he'd be at
football practice. he's not on the football team. he has a 4:00
therp appt. if we left the house now, we'd just make it on time.
i'm angry enough that he didn't call to say he'd be late (so i
could tell him he couldn't) that i don't know what's going to
happen to him. whatever it is, he's not going to like it.

I would mention it to him this evening, and just tell him how you feel.
Maybe you should go have a talk with the athletics department. Also,
rescheduling the therapy appointment or discussing therapy and a doctor with
him might not be a bad idea, he might be wanting to start out with something
new.

well, he knows how his dad and i feel now. it turns out that
he decided today to join the football team and needed forms,
then missed the bus home. he and i are both happy with his
therapist, so that won't change.

I had a friend whose daughter would pull such stunts. She called the
local police (she had a good friend who was a sergeant there) and they
picked up the daughter, cuffed and stuffed her, and took her to the
station to await mommy. She took her sweet time getting there, just
to add to the daughter's uncertainty.
Her daughter never pulled that stunt again.

i wasn't even certain where he was. the school said that there
was a signature that might be his on the late bus list, but

Be very careful how you do this. My friend only did this because she
knew the sergeant, and knew he wouldn't treat her like a common
criminal. He knew just how far to push issues, like leaving her
handcuffs rather loose, and when she started crying, he would reassure
her that "they would try to find a way to keep her out of jail". She
never saw the inside of a jail cell. Some cops can be real pricks,
though, and I wouldn't want to see one push things too far and thus,
cancel out any beneficial effects of the tried and true "cuff and
stuff" method.
Good luck with your son and best wishes to your family. I hope things
work out favorably without having to resort to such extreme measures.

it's a good idea, though. i'll keep it in mind.

Be very careful how you do this. My friend only did this
because she knew the sergeant, and knew he wouldn't treat
her like a common criminal. He knew just how far to push
issues, like leaving her handcuffs rather loose, and when
she started crying, he would reassure her that "they would
try to find a way to keep her out of jail". She never saw
the inside of a jail cell. Some cops can be real pricks,
though, and I wouldn't want to see one push things too far
and thus, cancel out any beneficial effects of the tried
and true "cuff and stuff" method.

Good luck with your son and best wishes to your family. I
hope things work out favorably without having to resort to
such extreme measures.

thanks. i think the point's been made. especially if he's
paying a hundred dollars for missing his appt.

Ouch! Yeah, I think that would get *anyone's* attention.
It's harsh, but totally appropriate.

I can't think it would have had any effect on Wynne at that age.

i remember that wynne was quite the hellion then. i felt sad and
terrified when reading your posts back then. luckily, michael's
being fairly civilised, though still very much a teen.

Good. I do not approve of other people having Wynne's to cope with. Mind
you, he's quite nice these days. Just a phase, I suppose.

"Wynne's"? I need a good proof reader.

he didn't show up on the school bus this afternoon. very
strange. i called the place where he sometimes volunteers time.
he wasn't there, either. called the school. i came to find out
that he signed up for the 5:00 late bus today, that he'd be at
football practice. he's not on the football team. he has a 4:00
therp appt. if we left the house now, we'd just make it on time.

i'm angry enough that he didn't call to say he'd be late (so i
could tell him he couldn't) that i don't know what's going to
happen to him. whatever it is, he's not going to like it.
