Changing the way you think is the secret to feeling better |
Changing the way you think is the secret to feeling better and
behaving in more functional ways. But changing beliefs is more easily
said than done - as the saying goes, old habits die hard. Fortunately,
there are many strategies and techniques you can use to help make the
changes that are in your interests.

Self-help CBT, based on the idea that thoughts are the key. I don't see
what the problem is; it's relevant to the group.

It's the way its presented, no room for debate, no questions, no
doubt. This is the the be all and end all and, as you said in another
thread (and I'm paraphrasing) I don't like someone telling me their
beliefs are better than mine; I take exception to being told I don't
want to get better because I wont do what this *****-wit tells me to
do. Never mind that I'm already using CBT, this ***** tells me it's my
fault I'm not already cured. As far as I'm concerned, he can FOAD.

He's certainly very positive about his method, but all psychiatric
self-help texts I've seen have been. It must be de riguer.

Yes, I think Alan is right. The site describes the use of CBT. I think
it is legitamate. One might be troubled by the promise of "Fast
Recovery" until one realizes that this is his/her moniker and she/he
posts other information in other groups not related to CBT. I would be
skeptical of a claim of "fast recovery" associated to CBT or any other
method, but in fact no such claim is made.
I don't think changing the way you think is a secret either... it's
more like a duh!

Unfortunately, there's plenty of ignorance and prejudice against CBT
to begin with that this jerk is just feeding with his spamming and
stupid nickname. I wouldn't be totally surprised to find out he's a
disgruntled former CBT patient trying to stir up negative feelings
against it.
P.S. -- Alan, what is a "D-I-Y"???

"Homicidal maniac"?
Serially, I don't think we have an abbreviation like that, we just call
it "do it yourself", or speak of the person as a "handyman". Sometimes
they can even fix broken hearts.
