I was wondering if anyone if there was connection between chocolate and
depression. My boyfiend says I'm different person after I eat
chocolate(a can of frosting). I'n happier abd easier to get along with.
I'm thinking it's just the sugar.

chocolate contains theobromine (that's why cats and dogs shouldn't eat it).
it's loosely related to the drug ecstasy.

If you're having noticeable mood swings after eating sugar I think you
should probably have yourself checked out for diabetes.
Then again you may just like chocolate.

chocolate does, indeed, affect mood.
so does that much sugar :-)
why not experiment, and eat some dark (preferable bitter-sweet)
chocolate without so much sugar in it. then see how you feel. i
always know i'm going down when i get intense chocolate
cravings.

I don't eat chocolate regularly because of weight, but when I get REALLY
down the right chocolate bar does wonders. Toblerone, Cadbury, and UNO bars.
The UNO bar is rare, but if you find a store that sells them buy some and
freeze them. Eat 'em fresh from the freezer. Gawd, I'm gonna' have to find
some!

there's a health food store near here that sells excellent
chocolate. the only place i've seen with a whole section
devoted to bulk chocolates. the last time i was there,we got
two types of dark chocolate to compare. the madagascar won.

You could do a search for serotonin and chocolate. I once read an
article about there being a connection, and there has been some
research done on this. It might be that you need more of an
antidepressant, since you're getting such a positive reaction from it.
