It means you lost connection with the device at the other end of the
cord. Did you check both ends of the cord? Is it constantly like this,
or is it on and off? Are you connecting to a hub, router, or a modem?

That would be a failure on level one of the OSI network model.
Is "Local area connection 3" the connection you actually use for your
connection? It's possible it's a dummy connection that's not really
connected to anything, or is associated with a device that's not in use.
Damn I hate Windows.

that must be it cuz everything seems to be working properly. except for the
annoying fact that i can't seem to receive email from my best friend as of
thursday. i checked my blocked senders list and her name isn't there so i
can't imagine what the problem is!!!

That's a layer four or higher issue.
Sorry, I just got back from a week of vacation during which I attempted to
forget I had a job... so now I'm trying to re-fire the brain cells I've
had turned off all week.

i checked my blocked senders list and her name isn't there so i can't

Are you or your friend getting an undeliverable error of some sort back or
is the mail just not getting there?

If she's not getting an error I'd have to assume the problem is on your
end somewhere between your machine and your ISP. If the mail died in
transit before it got to the server responsible for delivering it to you
there should be a pretty clear error message returned to the sender.
It is possible that road runner is blocking the mail or marking it as
spam. Do you get a quarantine report from you ISP?

i checked my blocked senders list and her name isn't there so
i

Are you or your friend getting an undeliverable error of some

sort

back

or is the mail just not getting there?

neither of us! she's sending me emails as always, only i'm not
receiving them. neither of us gets any kind of error message.

do

you

think road runner is somehow preventing me from getting cox
internet
email all of the sudden? and if so, how do i contact them to
ask

them

about it?

If she's not getting an error I'd have to assume the problem is
on

your

end somewhere between your machine and your ISP. If the mail died

in

transit before it got to the server responsible for delivering it

to

you
there should be a pretty clear error message returned to the

sender.

no error messages. what's weird is that now she's sent me another

email

from a different name on that same account, and IT ARRIVED! so why
can

i

not receive her emails from her regular name? it's all the same
cox-internet account, just different email addys!

AARRGGHH!!!

It is possible that road runner is blocking the mail or marking

properly.

except

for

the
annoying fact that i can't seem to receive email from my

best

of
thursday. i checked my blocked senders list and her name

isn't

there

so

i
can't imagine what the problem is!!!

Now I'm confused. What brings on the error?
