I went out this evening to see 'Steeleye Span'. The drummer's plaited
beard would make ZZ Top envious.

just be what I feel like saying right now, okay?

Good. I got a crick in my neck though; we had front row stalls seats.
Lots of new stuff, but I always like what I'm familiar with, and they
only did three of those, and another with a completely different
setting. Maddie Prior still bops around. I think she may be the only
original member left.

O, I'd love to see Maddy Prior! Is her voice as good as it ever was?
(She and June Tabor astound me, especially together.)

MP's as good as ever, but the new material doesn't let her show it.
Luckily they did a few old arrangements - 'Long Lankin' stands out.
I saw her and June Tabor on their 'Silly sisters' tour. Very good, but a
long time ago. I haven't heard any recent JT, but my wife plays the CDs,
and rates her.

That's a pity.

"Rates her"? What do you mean?
June's done some good things over the past several years. She did a
nice job on a Thompson song..."Pavanne," was it?...it's been too long.
I really like her version of "The King of Rome."

Considers her to be good or better.

I'll have to see what we have of hers.

OIC.

I'll have to see what we have of hers.

I looked over the titles on her CDs to jog my memory. She does several
Thompson songs, including a really nice version of "Waltzing's for
Dreamers" and, of course, "Pavanne." I love the Bob Franke's song "Hard
Love," too, although June's isn't my favorite version of it. (I prefer
Claudia Schmidt's, for what it's worth -- though I'd say June Tabor
ranks a lot higher as a singer.)
