*crossing fingers and toes* |
I've been feeling pretty lethargic and crappy for the past 6 months or so,
but nobody has really been able to find a cause for it so I've been ignoring
it as much as I can.
This past month, after making a change to my epilepsy medication, I've been
experiencing some weird neurological symptoms (dizziness, pins and needles
etc). My neurologist and I both thought they were a result of simple
partial seizures and increased my medication. This changed the feelings,
but they didn't really go away.
I saw my neurologist again tonight. Now I have to go for a brain and spine
MRI because he's convinced if what I was feeling was due to epilepsy it
would have been fixed with the increase in meds. Unfortunately the symptoms
I've developed in the past three weeks are also some of the most common
symptoms of multiple sclerosis, so he has to check for it. I have to wait
three weeks until I have the MRI, and I'm pretty freaked out. I know there
are plenty of other medical conditions that can cause lethargy, dizziness,
numbness and pins and needles and this will most likely turn out to be
nothing at all. He just has to check for it to rule it out.
I had an MRI 2 years ago when the epilepsy was first diagnosed, because they
had to rule out brain tumors, and that had me pretty worried to. Of course,
all turned out to be fine, and I have photograpic evidence that I do have a
brain :)
I'm sure it will be nothing, but damn this is going to be a very long three
weeks.
I'm ok, but thanks for listening to me vent.

i know how awful that wait can be. it's hard not to ruminate,
but sometimes it works to remind yourself that it's not
helpful. try to go easy on yourself during the wait. i'll be
thinking of you.
