So hard to explain. Let's just say someone living in my head doesn't
want me on depakote, and I don't want to upset them because they know
how to get to me, but as long as I try, they're happy. My pdoc says
we'll keep Lamictal in mind. She doesn't want to ruin a good thing.

Makes perfect sense to me, I'm glad you are able to appease them, cuz I
don't want the dude to "get to you" At least you have a back up in mind. If
you switch to the back up maybe that'll be temporary until the dude doesn't
want those either then you could switch back? Can you trick him?

I don't know how my pdoc would take that. She's a tough lady. No messing
around. She won't even let me take more than 60mg Cymbalta because
that's the limit recommended.

Can you trick him?

Who? The doctor or the other guy?

If I listened to my evil voices I'd be in a HELLOFA lot of trouble!
It does sound like depakote isn't the right medication for you
though. Have you been diagnosed with bi-polar?

I haven't heard of that one. I'm sorry that you have to deal with
that. Does it seem like the depakote helps you at all? Are there
other meds to treat your diagnosis that you haven't tried, that your
doc hasn't tried?

It's hard to say because I went onto three drugs at the same time, so I
don't know what helps with my depression.

that your doc hasn't tried?

I've been on a lot of drugs. There's one called Lamictal that I haven't
tried that's in the same class as depakote, but I hesitate to switch
drugs outside a hospital setting.

Title: Re: Depakote 31 Mar 2007 01:51:54 PM
Completely understand about the switching meds thing. I've been on
many myself, though not depakote. I think I might have said so
earlier, but I am on Lamictal and maybe it is finally starting to
work. That and a combination of finding this group perhaps. I won't
ever go back to a hospital again....I felt disrespected and I don't
feel it helped me at all. The only useful purpose I felt was to lock
me in to make sure I didn't kill myself, and as desperately as I want
to sometimes I can't try again. Can't do that to my family, and my
personal beliefs are that I would still be unhappy after death
anyways, so death would be no escape, unless perhaps I was run over or
something (which I long for at times) I hope that you can get your
meds straightened out, and I'm really appreciating reading all of your
posts, thanks.

Maybe your you could tell your pdoc about any problems in a journal,
sometimes we can make the wrong decision based on a thought or idea. I hope
this is helpful.

If I tell my pdoc the real reason why I don't want to be on it, she's
think I'm REALLY nuts.

information about anticonvulsants and what symptoms are treated.

LOL, slunky!! I am new here, but I can relate. I am currently on
Lamictal, and I haven't had any side effects from it. As to whether
it's helping or not, I can't really tell. Medication does not take
away the painful issues I'm dealing with at the moment. I am also on
Wellbutrin. I hope you find something that will be helpful to you.
Best of luck.

I am, but she put me back on it and wanted to increase the dosage. I
guess she thinks it's a good drug for me. I have to do more bloodtests
next month to see if it does the same thing again.

I don't blame you for wanting something else. Increasing it
sounds crazy.

I don't either. She asked me two or three times if I had ever been
manic. I haven't. I think she's just afraid of letting me switch meds
outside the hospital.
