depressing for USAnians. |
President George W. Bush pauses during remarks to the press after a
meeting with his cabinet in the West Wing of the White House in
Washington, February 2, 2004. Secretary of State Colin Powell (L) and
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld look on. Facing a record $521 billion
deficit, Bush proposed a $2.4 trillion election-year budget that will
cut dozens of domestic programs and set deficit-reduction goals that
even fellow Republicans are skeptical he can meet.

I was listening about that on the BBC world-service (surprised it is still
running.....have you guys heard what's happening regarding Dr Kelly?)
It would be useful if they just taxed the overly-rich as they should do...

"Overly rich?" The idea that someone can be "overly rich" is something
I find objectionable. It equates the possession of wealth as a bad
thing, to be forbidden.

Well I think it means too much wealth. Although it is not a mindset
I subscribe to. If you took all the filthy rich shook out their
money and spread it around it would equate to a few thousand each
and we would be nowhere.
It is the potential to be rich, or comfortable, that make the world
go round...

Overly rich? Are you a communist? The "overly rich" already pay huge sums
in taxes.
Do you want to be fair? Then take the federal budget and divide it equally
among all citizens, and resident aliens, of the U.S.
When you are done choking at the thought of paying your *fair* share, you
can thank God that the "overly rich" are paying most of it for you.

I suggest you go look at some actual IRS figures.
The middle class pays the majority of the taxes in the US; more than the
uber-rich and corporations.
