and then their is this feeling in the centre of you, that the thing you
wanted to connect to isn't going to exist, you feel the hole and just
accept it.
i think christmas is a time for the ultimate give-up.

i have no expectations or hopes for x-mas. i don't even
celebrate the holiday. but the kids do, so i have to do it. at
least they're happy so long as they get toys or games and
something good to eat.

not until someone said something and I realized it is next week. didn't
even know what day it was on, didn't care.
but watching TV is making it worse. everywhere there are Christmas
specials, happy smiling joyous people. it is depressing that I
can't/don't feel like that. I feel as if i'm missing something.
how can I enjoy Christmas when Nana Moon is dead?

i've been waiting since october for a digital camera, purposefully
ordered so i would have paid it off by now. after 2 months of spin, a
substitute model came through, which words for 2 minutes then shuts down
saying "low battery", regardless of how new the batteries were, and
using bits of twisted copper to improve the connection....
anyway, consumerism sucks, nice things are only nice when they are
designed well and not in a rush... like my emails are...

If the batteries are 'disposable', replace them with re-chargeable NiMH
batteries; they last a lot longer before going flat, and they can be
re-charged easily. Alkaline cells seem to be pretty useless with digital
cameras. Of course, they'd have to charge more for the camera if they
included a charger and re-chargeable batteries with it.

isn't that an apple?
won't I have problems getting it to talk to this computer? what about
all the programs I bought over the years; PaintShopPro, Agent, Calypso,
etc. they won't talk to apple.
and after all these years i'm just now getting to the point of not
knowing what the hell I am doing on a computer; i'd have to learn to be
stupid all over again in a different OS.
I am of little brain, I was happy with 2 cans on a string.

Well, there's virtual PC if you want. But I love it, I got an iBook
right as the whole "switcher" thing started. The change in OS was a bit
daunting. But after I realized how incredible the whole thing was I sold
the iBook on ebay for about $100 less after a year! Then moved to the
12" aluminum powerbook.
It can be easy to use if you want or real powerful. Put ubuntu on it if
you feel like it. Or do like I do, use fink to run any unixy thing and I
can fire up KDE while running Aqua...although I use blackbox. So if you
want it can be a wonderful little unix workstation.
The build quality is amazingly good and I don't think you can beat Apple
for industrial design.
They're not cheap in the upfront cost, but mine is about 3.5 years old
now and does *everything* the latest models do...except some of the
splashy graphics effects in 10.4 but those aren't any useability things,
just neat effects.
I would never have switched if they had stayed with their prior
operating systems, but OS X is really something fancy.

they never came, so i called the company. the had no record of
the order. now i'm going to pay a small fortune to get them to
the relatives in time for christmas.
