Dreaming about Slunky |
Of all the things Slunky posted the past few days, the
image that burned deep into me was his description of
being on his hands and knees begging to die yesterday morning.
Last night I watched "I'm Your Man", a documentary about
Leonard Cohen. Later, I dreamed that it was Slunky singing
this Cohen song:

I hope he's doing alright. I'm very glad he called for help. I

No, he didn't but he seems able to overcome that when he
really, really has to. And his therapist seems like an
absolute jewel.

that's one powerful illness isn't it ,
reached right across the country and got you too
It is. And, to me, he seems like such a warrior in his
battles with it that it inspires me in my own, comparably
minor, struggles. It also cracks my heart open to witness
his pain. But maybe, as Leonard also wrote: that's how the
light gets in.

Leonard is such a wonderful singer... Robert Christgau described
his voice years ago as the "most intimate" in pop music... There are 2
other documentaries about him that are also very interesting...
