Well, I'd like something outrageous, like orange, or red, or
purple, but I'm worried that my volunteer jobs would be put in
jeopardy... maybe brown or blonde would be safer...

Do a classic red head, see how that goes, if they don't boohoo over that
then change it up. My son has done, red, blue, purple, orange, and green.
All one at a time. He was finally told no more greens and blues. Natural
colors were fine, so he's done red a lot.

My sons is naturally coal black, he had to dye it up blonde first to get the
other colors to show up. Becareful though over processing it can cause it
all to fall out. That's what happened to my son but he was 19 then, it
just grew back, but he processed it so much it fell out in clumps like
cotton it just disintegrated. I cracked up!!!

I saw a girl yesterday with a variation on the classic mohican: she
had 3 mohicans almost, 1 on top which was the longest and dyed red,
another half way between the top of her head and her ear which was
white and about half the length of the first one, and the third which
was just above her ear, very short and dyed blue. The rest of her head
was shaved. It was very striking. Maybe you could have a go at
that?! ;o)
You could also try the hair dyes that wash out after a short while,
some sprays will only last about one or two washes.

It depends on your skin tone. Black hair kinda works
with most skin tones. Red really needs a lighter freckly
skin, as sorta does blond.
What colour is it at the moment?
If skin tone and hair colour don't match it looks
plain weird.

I don't think I'd try it. My hair is fairly long, however
fairly straw like.
I don't really think shampoo is good, dye I
would think would be bad if used on a long
term basis.
The part I don't get is Asians dying their
hair reddish, it looks bizzarre, prolly
better than purple punks though :-)

In most cases. It wasn't so safe back when they were using coal
tar and bleach. You might want it done by a professional rather
than a do-it-yourself. At home, it's nasty and messy and smelly.

thanks Lisa... I've been thinking a lot lately about how I need to

-"Jordy"

I don't see how having your hair any particular color should endanger
your volunteer activities
If yer gonna do it a color, remember that unless you first bleach it
out, the color won't be as vibrant
Try some test areas first
Back in the old days, I dyed mine a few times with Manic Panic dye
(when I still played in a band)
I may volunteer to man a booth at this year's Hempfest for either the
THCF or my dispensary
I'm thinking about maybe doing mine green for that
or maybe not
we'll see
I know kids who's hair is dyed and cut funky that work in offices
etc., they generally wear wigs to work
Lots of them have piercings too but they are able to put some other
kinda thing in there to keep their piercings open without wearing
their jewelery.........
Maybe that sort of thing could work for you?
sometimes just changing something external (like your hair) can give
you a boost and its not permanant like a tat
(i guess i'm lucky to still have my hair, even if it keeps getting
greyer by the moment, don't think much one way or another except when
it's time to get it trimmed/cut)
yer young, I say go for it
its springtime
whadda hell
buy some new clothes, too!

Lots of them have piercings too but they are able to put some other
kinda thing in there to keep their piercings open without wearing
their jewelery.........

Seriously? My nose is pierced and I have always worked in offices
without
any problems.

I have been an executive Secretary/office manager for the last 8 years, I
have 8 tattoos and working on #9, I also have a pierced belly button and
double ears pierced.

I've not done anything to myself except for one piercing,
and I'm not telling where it is :-)

Well if your not telling then I don't want to know LOL

You don't want to know, I'm sorta bored with it, so
meh, it's still there, prolly always will be.

Is it safe to dye your hair?

In most cases. It wasn't so safe back when they were using coal
tar and bleach. You might want it done by a professional rather
than a do-it-yourself. At home, it's nasty and messy and smelly.

thanks Lisa... I've been thinking a lot lately about how I need to
make major changes in my life... and I need more excitement too, I
think... I wouldn't call dying my hair a major change, but it is
something... I'd like to color my hair orange or purple or something,
but I don't want to endanger my being able to work at my volunteer
jobs...

I don't see how having your hair any particular color should endanger
your volunteer activities

If yer gonna do it a color, remember that unless you first bleach it
out, the color won't be as vibrant
Try some test areas first

Back in the old days, I dyed mine a few times with Manic Panic dye
(when I still played in a band)

I may volunteer to man a booth at this year's Hempfest for either the
THCF or my dispensary
I'm thinking about maybe doing mine green for that
or maybe not
we'll see

I know kids who's hair is dyed and cut funky that work in offices
etc., they generally wear wigs to work

Maybe that sort of thing could work for you?

sometimes just changing something external (like your hair) can give
you a boost and its not permanant like a tat
(i guess i'm lucky to still have my hair, even if it keeps getting
greyer by the moment, don't think much one way or another except when
it's time to get it trimmed/cut)

yer young, I say go for it
its springtime
whadda hell
buy some new clothes, too!
