Effexor and stomach problems |
Anyone else on effexor and experiencing stomach pain and nausea?
Used to be if I felt hungry I'd get a little grumble in my stomach.
Now when I haven't eaten I feel sick to my stomach and often get dry
heaves until I can get something inside me to stop the spasms.
I noticed this started after I had been on effexor for a while.
Anyone else?

A lot of intolerant people have excess bile from time to time.
Effexor can exacerbate that.

I was on effexor for a short period of time, and had some difficulty.
I would read the instructions from the pharmacy or online, usually you
have to take meds like this on a full stomach.

Haven't taken Effexor and also haven't had stomach pains/disorders
from any Rx yet, but someone on IRC mentioned this, had to stop
the Rx because of it. But I can't remember if it was Effexor or
a standard SSRI.

Yes. I don't get the nausia much, but a cough can easily turn into a 'dry
heave' which is rather unpleasant (and rather too frequent, as us
Asthmatics tend to cough a fair bit).
It did settle down somewhat aftr a while, but I increased the dose a couple
of weeks ago and the dry heaves are back. I'm hoping they will ease off
soon.

Thanks for the help and info.
My sis is actually a pharmacist and she's always making sure I know
how to take my meds properly (like with food and such). I mentioned
it to her also and she said that this is part of the reason they
recommend taking it on a full stomach. Which I do.
I'm actually coming off the meds right now and I'm hoping that once
completely off them this stomach trouble will heal itself.
Isn't it great? I take ***** that makes you feel like crap in the
hopes that SOME of it will make me feel better.
Think I'll laugh about it til I cry. I'm alone so it's ok right now.
No one to bother .

have been on it for just over a month and had some slight stomach discomfort
just at the beginning...I have noticed it redued my appetite though.
It is a common side effect of Effexor along with dizziness.
