effexor xr |
in the constant search for the best drug, my pdoc now has given me effexor
xr. from what i've read about it, it seems promising: effective as an
antidepressant as well as for the treatment of social anxiety disorder
(which i also suffer from) and general anxiety disorder (which my pdoc seems
to suspect i might have).
so far, the side effects aren't too bad. most noticeable is that it is a bit
difficult to fall asleep and to stay asleep at night. on the other hand, i
don't feel like a numb, unemotional zombie.
i guess it's too early to tell how it will work for me. anyone else here on
effexor xr?

Effexor IS a med , some have withdrawl when quitting it .

Effexor IS a med , some have withdrawl when quitting it .
no one said they don't , what i said was he's not even on meds , never was ,
hopefully never will be

Hi there. I am on effexor. It is true that you can have trouble sleeping at
first. Best to take in morning. And when you stop taking it, you have to
taper off slowly.
BUT -- it is said to increase energy and does not make you feel emotionally
numb. All in all, I think it is considered pretty effective in "tough" cases.
I am glad to hear of the switch. Might be just what will help. How are things
generally? Any luck thinking about a pet, or doing a daring deed? :)

i'm ok. i haven't done anything about getting a pet yet, but i will.

Thanks for asking, it means a lot. I am hanging in. Problems still there, but
I am a big believer in the saying "never say die."
So just keep going -- I am focusing on getting Robin Hood done now.

Since December; switched from dothiepin. I get the screwed-up sleep
pattern; the AD effect seems to be there, but I suspect that I'll need to
increase the dose.

it does disturb my sleep, but not terribly much. i still manage to get
enough sleep.
also, it is nice to be able to stay awake in evenings and on weekends. maybe

i did very well on it for quite awhile. much better than any of
the standard ssri's. everything poops out on me eventually, but
effexor xr worked suprisingly long. my only problem was getting
off of it, but i hear that's not too bad if you take it slowly.
i had to do a crash withdrawal, and it was not fun.

i slept a lot on it the first week or so, then it had the opposite
effect on me after that. interrupted sleep/ occasional insomnia. 8 hrs
sleep were RARE!
if you tweak out on it, as i have, request someting for anxiety...xanax
was ok, clonazepam, seems milder, and more appropriate, imo.
it is the only AD ive tried, and it does do its job. after being on it a
second time, ive been diagnosed with BpII. my pdoc gave me some
options...and we're going from there..
