surgery went fine. he handled the anesthesia without any problems at
all (that was my biggest concern).
he's not doing so great in the aftermath, though, and i'm kind of
worried. he's been horribly restless and whiney and refusing to eat
since the night before surgery, i think as a side-effect of his
fentanyl pain patch. i opted to remove it and switch to different,
less powerful oral meds in the hopes that his tummy will settle and
he'll start to eat again.
poor monkey. he looks like somebody decked him.
my coworker has dubbed him with the pirate name captain harvey crunch
:)
he'll be fine in the long run. i just feel bad that he feels so crappy
right now.

Poor thing. I hope he feels better soon.
I'm really glad he got through the anesthesia ok though, I know that's a
concern in older animals (and people).
I'm sure he'll be getting lots of treats once he starts eating again,
which will take his mind off things.
I hope you're handling this all ok elegy....it's got to be stressful for
you.

he's back to his normal self now with the pain patch off, and he ate
dinner like a champion. hopefully we'll both sleep tonight, since we
didn't sleep much the past two nights.
i'm ok. i'm much much better now that he's feeling more himself and
eating. that had me worried.

I'm rather curious about his doseage of fentanyl, how many mcgs/hr are
his pain patches for. Animal metabolism is always rather interesting.
It's either something where they need immense doses because of their
metabolism rate, or like chocolate/tylenol/aspirin where comparatively
tiny doses are a huge danger.
I'm wondering if he wasn't just getting the same reaction that people
get to a too high narcotics dose, where you get sick to your stomach.
That happened to me for a while when I was initially trying to sort out
fentanyl patches.

Good, I'm glad he's eating. Pretty dog. The vet was just here (Sat.
Night, prescheduled) to drain Maltie the cat of his abdom. fluid.
Last time was the end of Sept, so looks like this is going to be a
frequent affair. He blows up like a ballon, yet he dooesn't lose the
appetite...After the draining, he's wiped out for a few days. But
they didn't suck him dry like last time, and he's already eating boars
head sharp provolone with me.
I also have a new kitty in the house, a feral baby about 2 years old
that my gf brought. The vet did her initial shots, fecal
tests....before I can give her the run of the house.
My gf. The cat is fine.
bahaha.
