email hell |
i've sent out 6 important emails today, a couple to people on
this group. my server is refusing to relay them, and my email
package just says that there was an error. then they go to
never-never land. if you're expecting email from me, it'll come
when i've figured this out...

RCN email has been getting very shaky. I
had an important email bounce back 3
days after I sent it!!

i just got mine fixed. it now requires a username and password
to send mail, something they've never required before, so long
as i was logged into their server at the time.

You just got it fixed after having the
problems described above? Or you had to
start doing the password thing before
and now these are new problems? Sorry, I
think half my brain is already asleep.

I wandered over to rcn.general and there
were several complaints about email.
I've had that password thing happen
before ... and then it stops asking.
What's going on for me now is email
delayed in and out. Stuff with a time
stamp 3 hours earlier than when it
arrives. It's kinda messing with my work
-- but I so very much don't want to
switch ISPs.
So I'm pretending that they're
installing new servers and upgrading and
that's why I'm having problems. It's
quite an elaborate fantasy, too, so I'm
very convinced our RCN service is gonna
get a whole lot better, Lisa, any
minute. You'll see! Soon!!

i haven't had any trouble so far, luckily. no bounced or late
mail. just this authentication problem.
