Email Question, sorry if it's annoying but i don't know where to ask |
Is there a way to know if someone has received emails that you've sent
to them?
I am on a Mac. I know that on my PC, they used to have return
receipts. (And receiver had the option of not acknowledging them.)
I've been using a computer for only seven or eight years. Although
there are still many things i do not understand, i don't consider
myself *completely* stupid.
The reason i am asking this is because i have a close friend whom i
know only from the internet. We have been chatting for over a year.
And that is also part of the reason that i thought of posting here.

if they aren't bouncing back they likely got recieved ,
but there are a pile of other reasons why they might not get answered

No. E-mail is pretty much fire and forget. If the message didn't get
delivered to the client's provider then you would probably get a message
from one of the servers telling you there's a problem. But there is no way
to determine if a message got from the provider to the end-user.

That's a function of the e-mail software not the OS. A return receipt is
nothing more than an e-mail that's automatically sent by the mail client
in a specific format. If they aren't turned on you won't see one.

I told you this was going to happen.

We usually toast people who ask stupid things....but you and this are
not one of those stupid things.
Hi.
use google chat, not hotmail...it works real good. Go to a PC, email
your friend. or reply to me, I will give you a gmail invitation, then
you send one to your person. Just hit 'reply to author'.
