I had to stop on the stairs to work out what to do with my feet. It was
several seconds before I could start climbing them again.

Hi,
You might want to go for a MRI. Did you feel dizzy? confused?Could it
be related to changes in medication.
Don't let them give you a cat scan. Tell them you want a MRI. It
costs alot more so the doctor will probably suggest a cat scan but its
easy to miss stuff on a cat scan. This stuff is almost always nothing,
so don't worry. jill

Over here they tend not to do tests unless they have a clear, clinical
need, as they can cost a lot of money. Everything is supposed to come
from the hospital's budget, which has to break even, so too many MRIs
and CAT scans could mean fewer cancer drugs.
I haven't changed my meds in months (and that was an increase from 200mg
to 400 of a med I'm allowed to take 800mg of). I tried to go to the
doctor's on Monday, but it was crowded, so I left it till Tuesday, and
forgot entirely.

You practically have to be in cardiac arrest to get any attention
these days. They just give you some tylenol and send you home. Somebody
at work was saying her father died because his ulcer was bleeding and
they just gave him some pain killers and sent him home. He bled to
death. I'd call that neglect. yikes jill

Yes, but it was my feet that forgot what to do, and that's different
from forgetting someone's name. Walking is a pretty fundamental skill.

True... may I be so bold as to suggest your feet got their
instructions from your brain? The brain may have been obeying

Hello. Are you going to be reading everyday again?

I seem to be at the moment. I was checking in less regularly and
then got drunk, nostalgic and posted a few. Quitting this place
is a bit like giving up cigarettes.
I have been studying IT and networked our computers at home. Then
got into helping a mate with his computer service business and
networked some small business computers. It is very easy work and
fits in nicely with the coffee business.
I never went through with the teenage minding thing. Got cold
feet and chickened out at the last moment. I'm too selfish it
seems. I made excuses but the bottom line is I don't seem to have
the courage of my convictions, at least not yet.
That's okay, I'm not alone and at least I got that far. Maybe
when I'm on more solid ground myself and less busy with earning a
crust to feed the family.
How are you doing?

I'm getting by. Things are going along well as far as I can tell. Other
people might not think so, but they have different standards and goals.

It is interesting to feel less glorious. Something about growing
up maybe? I have become more of a mole and less of a butterfly. A
lot of people think that is bad, I happen to think it is very good.
Trying to defeat gravity by flying is a goal. Just not one I
would choose. Not anymore at least. I have good ideas. That is
intensely satisfying. They will stay with me in my space.

I mentioned it to my psych, and he thought that it was probably a
depersonalisation event. Apparently it's quite common to lose oneself
for a few seconds like that; unlike derealisation, which is 24/7,
depersonalisation comes in short episodes - my longest is half an hour
or so.

Quite possibly. I still think there is more to our actions than
just cause and effect. I have often found that while thinking
about something deeply and travelling through the house, I go in
a different direction than I was intending. If allowed to
continue to it's destination I find myself somewhere and wonder
what I'm doing there. I've always wondered if there is not some
subconscious need to fulfil actions that have a meaning we are
unaware of. Also if that need is sometimes expressed in walking
somewhere when we allow ourselves to be distracted on the issue
of direction or purpose.

I had that happen for some weeks after going cold turkey off of Effexor.
