evil program on my computer... |
my daughter (the 7 yr old) got hold of the winantispyware thingy and now
it's stuck on my computer and won't go away!!!!

this things evil, dave. i ran adaware and i ran norton, and both found it,
removed it, and then after rebooting the computer...back it came!!!
i read symantec's report on how to remove it, but i'm not finding ANY of the
things in my registry that it says to remove. :/

if you can find it in the registry delete it ,
but make sure you just delete it ,
i wish i could see how it looks ,
but if you open the folder in the regestry file that it is in ,
highlight it and delete it , then restart and run an adware getter again ,
see if it comes back after that

Yes, you will loose your restore points, but not your personal data files
etc, by not choosing to turn off system restore you run the risk of
restoring the virus/trojans again after cleaning them, scanning in safe mode
is also recommended in many cases. Read the following links for more detail.
System restore can be reinstated when your system is all clean again.
