Executed killer took 34 minutes to die |
STARKE, Florida (AP) -- Death penalty opponents criticized the
execution of a convicted murderer who took more than half an hour to
die and needed a rare second dose of lethal chemicals.
Angel Nieves Diaz, 55, convicted of murdering a Miami topless bar
manager 27 years ago, appeared to grimace before dying Wednesday, 34
minutes after the first dose.

From what I can find, more than 16 000. A murder rate more
than 4 times ours.
Turning that around, that argument could be used to prove that the death
penality actually promotes murders.
That doesn't seem reasonable to me either so there must be more at work
here
than simple numbers.

life in isolation and death ,

I've been locked up, and after a while you get used to it, and after a

We should at the very least get rid of cable TV and exercise yards. How
'bout a mandatory two hours a day watching home movies of the victims
families trying to put their lives back together?

That was a karate instructor who had molested repeatedly the mans son.
The cops knew him, so they said, "Gary, No!!!" after he shot the *****
in the head. And what told me the father was just a regular guy, is
that he tried to hang up the phone after he shot him, didn't want to
just leave it dangling. Damn good shot under pressure, even that
close.

WOW that's amazing too, that they didn't punish him longer for taking
justice into his own hands. I don't blame the father at all, I'd be crazy
with murder if someone killed my kid, but it's still murder even if you kill
a murderer in cold blood. No trial, no judge, no jury...

I was locked up for a night when I was a teenager for being drunk and
throwing a bin through a shop window. I don't really remember much
about it apart from my parents reaction when I got home...
But, you must have had an idea of when you're time was up and therefore
could look forward to that. What if there was no release date? No
chance of ever getting out?

Honestly I don't believe it changes a murderous mind, most aren't
thinking the consequences from what I've read, it's the act they thrive
on, not the latter. I don't believe it's improved the death rate, nor
has it made it worse regardless if they serve a life sentence or
recieve the death penalty. I think it's as Janithor stated earlier, to
prevent that murderer from committing the same crime. We've only made
room in our prisons in Florida for four more ppl, I imagine A LOT more
then four have been sentanced. The over crowding of prisons is
rediculous.

Honestly I don't believe it changes a murderous mind, most aren't
thinking the consequences from what I've read, it's the act they thrive
on, not the latter.
A lot of the murders are drug related, and the conseguences probably won't
matter to a drug crazed mind.
I don't believe it's improved the death rate, nor
has it made it worse regardless if they serve a life sentence or
recieve the death penalty. I think it's as Janithor stated earlier, to
prevent that murderer from committing the same crime.
I agree, just as I believe that some criminals will never change, and so
should never be let out again, ever.
We've only made
room in our prisons in Florida for four more ppl, I imagine A LOT more
then four have been sentanced. The over crowding of prisons is
rediculous.
As sad statisic is that 1 in 142 US residents now in prison. What they hell
kind of country are we running here?
Bruce.

A very very frightening one. I wouldn't want to be a young person just
starting out. I can't imagine having children now, knowing what I do
know.

Another interesting statistic is that the violent crime rate per person in
the US is actually down from what it was 10 years ago. We must be doing
something right. Despite that, I think most people believe the situation is
worse now.

From what I can find, more than 16 000. A murder rate more
than 4 times ours.Turning that around, that argument could be used to prove that the death
penality actually promotes murders.
That doesn't seem reasonable to me either so there must be more at work here
than simple numbers.

I think you're right. Tragically, there's a serial killer on the loose
in England at the moment who's killed five women in six weeks. I doubt
he, or perhaps they, are thinking about the consequences of their
actions, just the twisted thrill they get out of it. And no number of
death sentences or life terms would deter them.

Our prisons are overcrowded, too. I don't know what the solution is.

Search for "reversed" and remember that's just in Texas.
Pay special attention to the one that died on death row.

That is interesting. How many of those wrongfully convicted for murder
don't get their sentence reversed and are executed, in that case?
How about this:
