I keep getting told exercise is good for depression.
Just wondering what exercise everyone does, if any?

I walk fast on flat ground or a treadmill, or I hike in the hills. It
works wonders.

I keep going downstairs for coffee. Sometimes I go to the Co-op for milk
and bananas.

Not anywhere near enough. I walk a bit and want to do more. I want to
get out into the wilderness and enjoy the peace and isolation.

I have gone in cycles over the years of excercising on and off.
Between walking/jogging, circuit training, aerobics (probably my
favorite), dancing, swimming, volleyball....there are so many forms of
exercise. I'm not doing anything right now and I know it would make a
difference if I was. I always feel so much better after a work out
and figure I need all the endorphines I can get. So why I go through
these periods where I don't exercise (and gain weight as a result)
puzzles me. It's always really really hard for me to get started, but
I'm never sorry afterwards. I love that feeling sore the next morning
feeling, and that pushing myself hard during a workout when I surpass
the point when I feel like I can't go anymore. Ok, maybe this will
inspire me. Hope this helps Lynne....

Getting out and doing stuff works in a way.

Can actually help. Fill yourself with fluids,
that will do it without excercise.

Filling yourself with fluids is no substitute for exercise.

Mmmmm beer

Alcohol is bad for your health. MM is healthier now that he quit
drinking (with our help).

Keep up! Too much alcohol is bad for you. A little alcohol is better for
you than total abstinence. Of course, that may change with the next
research finding.

And then change back again. What the world needs is a study on the
correlation between research and vertigo. :) Jeanne

I was walking a long walk twice a week, with the occasional
shorter walk. Then my walking buddy had to have some
reconstructive surgery and I stopped. I need to start again.

Nowhere near as much as I should.
My housemate bought a treadmill a few months ago....I really need to
start using it regularly.
There's a lot of research to support the benefits of exercise on
depression. It's one area that I'm not doing enough to help myself in.
