Exhausted |
It's time to go to bed. I just finished installing and setting up a wireless
LAN card on an old laptop using Linux. I also downloaded and installed
Opera.
Now I can read/write email (using KMail), read/post news (using KNode), and
browse the web (using Opera).
All this without making Bill Gate$ richer... :)

I'm just laughing my ***** off at the idea of bugman using open source
software. It can be written by anybody - entire core parts of his
computer can now be openly traced to clever Jewish fellows.
Also IIRC USB was developed in large part at intel's Israeli facilities,
their whole Centrino shindig was coming out of there. I believe they
still do all the laptop chipset design, and their network equipment (so
the wired and wireless).
Slunky....we better prepare to tell him which parts of the OS to start
ripping out. No doubt beginning with his hardware components and then
moving on to the OS. The kernel has code from Jews, so start there. He
can move on to smaller items (Zeyd Ben-Halim of ncurses sounds like a
Jewish name, but I'm no expert).
Better get your screwdriver to start tearing ICs out of your computer
and then write your own OS Marty.

I do technical support for a company that has a lot of US government
contracts, several of which require that support be provided only by US
citizens. Practically everyone I work with comes from India and is here
on an H-1B visa, so if one of these customers calls and they pick up,
they have to transfer them immediately to someone with citizenship.
The stupid thing about this is that almost all the developers and
engineers are Indian, too, so that for any serious problems, that
wholesome US citizen will probably wind up having to escalate to one of
these terrorists who wouldn't be allowed to escalate to them if the
positions were reversed. And even if they don't have to escalate, the
code they're supporting is 90% terrorist-written to begin with.

It's interesting how you jumped from H1B visa worker program to gov
contracts requiring US citizens and then everything becomes "terrorists".
Government contracts have had requirements that parts be US-sourced, or
that work be done by US citizens long before terrorism fear permeated
government regulations and contracts. Government contracts can have
foolish requirements because it's Congressional/Senatorial pork. It can
be some arcane mandate or policy that hasn't been reviewed since it got
lost in the paper shuffle on Kennedy's desk as he was rushing to meet
Marilyn.
There are all sorts of idiot reasons. It's probably the case that if
that wasn't in the contracts your company was doing then they wouldn't
be sponsoring the H1Bs. They'd just get smaller office space for the
stateside executives.
But how about a tirade against companies paying H1B terrorists a crappy
wage and making them slaves to the company? If those foreigners don't
feel like their Phd level education entitles them to come here and earn
$25k/year...and they're upset because that doesn't pay the rent let
alone the cost of all the ammonium nitrate. Then they can just quit and
RAPIDLY find another job to sponsor their visa before they're deported!

This isn't the case with my employer but I have heard horror stories
about others. An associate of mine's husband worked for a small software
development firm that required him to put in like 90 hour weeks, and he
didn't dare refuse for fear that his sponsor would fire him and he'd be
deported with his wife still here. His annual salary probably wasn't
bad, though, unless you "hourly-ized" it, in which case it probably
dropped below minimum. I tried to help by pointing her to certain
applicable California labor laws, but I'm sure he was too afraid to even
consider invoking such protections.
