Well, of course they confirmed it Uveitis, which one it is, is up in the
air. For sure Anterior Uveitis (Font of the eye) retina or optic nerve is
not swollen (this is a good thing) but there is white blood cells floating
around, the specialist said it's very hard to tell if it's spill over from
the Anterior Uveitis. He did say if it is spill over that's a good thing,
though it'll take a long time to get rid of, most of the time the body will
do it naturally but, they took three large vials of blood to run several
tests on to see if I carry a certain marker in my blood, that will determine
if this is something I'll need other experts involved in to clear this up
(Immunologist or a Rhuemetologist), if they can not find any other
"underlying" reason for this disease then they' treat it as they would a
"first time normal uveitis" and hope it doesn't come back again, but with my
history and my family history he's pretty sure some of those test will come
back positive. So for now, I continue with the drops twice a day and I see
him again on the 30th early in the morning.

Hi Sweetie,
The results will probably be in by Monday, but I don't see the
specialist again until the 30th so I probably won't know much until
then, unless he calls me. My immune system problems are mostly
hereditary, my father's is just as bad as mine. If my system test
positive for this certain marker, then it's definately a hereditary
thing. Another "possible" underlying cause is Lupus, which they also
tested for, I'm crossing my fingers is it's that! I've had immune
system problems my whole life, the flare up in the eyes I really feel
is the result of the radiation though. My theory is it destroyed what
ever cells the thyroid antibodies were attacking, which left them (the
antibodies) disoriented they became confused and moved on to my eyes.
Hard to explain but "I" overproduce white blood cells, they come
confused and attack my own body/cells. (Antibodies). Well I just
illiminated cells having the RadioActive Iodine, where do the
overactive white blood cells go? Just a theory, now that they are
attacking the eyes, the problem is stopping them, which is near
impossible, they can be managed with medication but as long as there
is healthy tissue produced they'll keep attacking.

More more and more crap! Aw Jane, I don't know how you do it. When
you post about all this you seem to be so strong and brave through all
this, and I admire that you do all you can to help yourself. It's
hard to believe all that's been placed on your shoulders....I don't
know if you ever feel this way, but there was a time when I felt like
if I wrote up all that was going wrong with me, physically,
emotionally, and the circumstances I was facing, no one would ever
believe it. It didn't seem like one person would be going through so
much, like I made it up. You have a great attitude and I bet that's
helping....you know, all those articles that talk about those who
maintain a positive attitude during their illness tend to heal a bit
faster. At least I've read that before. Hang in there sweetie, and
thank you for keeping up with the updates here. It keeps me from
having to bug you constantly and asking what the latest is ;-) I hope
you've got some fun plans for the weekend. Take care Jane....

I don't even want to write up all that is wrong with me physically, there is
so much more I don't even write about because you're right it feels like I'm
looking for attention when I post about my illnesses when in fact it's more
embarrassing that me 41 years old has so many physical things wrong with me.
I do get frustrated, sometimes I get really depressed, it's overwhelming.
When I feel that way sometimes I just let it consume me and come here
looking for support which I get a lot of here. Most of the time I try to
shake it off because feeling sorry for myself doesn't get me anywhere, the
disease is still there screwing with my life and my possible future.
Freaking out over my bills don't get them paid, it doesn't make my situation
any better, so rather then freak out over them, I just deal with them one at
a time. My attitude seriously comes from research, if I am diagnosed with
something, and lately it seems like everything, I research it, find support
groups with other people like me who are suffering from that particular
"something" and ask questions, LOTS of them. I read about other people
suffering with what I have and dealing well with it, or managing it or
they're far worse off then I am and then I'm grateful that mine isn't that
bad "yet" and hope that I can nip it in the butt before it gets that bad.
People don't usually die with all the crap I got, so that means I won't
either because I AM a fighter and I will not be the 5% who dies from Thyroid
Cancer, I will not be one of those who go blind from Uveitis, my spine will
not fuse and I'll end up in a wheel chair because I have AS, I don't have
Lupus, and well you get the idea right? Listen to me go on! Jeebus.

Well, of course they confirmed it Uveitis, which one it is,
is up in the air. For sure Anterior Uveitis (Font of the
eye) retina or optic nerve is not swollen (this is a good
thing) but there is white blood cells floating around, the
specialist said it's very hard to tell if it's spill over
from the Anterior Uveitis. He did say if it is spill over
that's a good thing, though it'll take a long time to get
rid of, most of the time the body will do it naturally but,
they took three large vials of blood to run several tests
on to see if I carry a certain marker in my blood, that
will determine if this is something I'll need other experts
involved in to clear this up (Immunologist or a
Rhuemetologist), if they can not find any other
"underlying" reason for this disease then they' treat it as
they would a "first time normal uveitis" and hope it
doesn't come back again, but with my history and my family
history he's pretty sure some of those test will come back
positive. So for now, I continue with the drops twice a
day and I see him again on the 30th early in the morning.

Jane

Thanks for the update. Good that it's anterior, anyway. If the
markers come back positive, would they put you on an
immunosuppressant now? I guess that's up to the rheumatologist
or immunologist, huh? At any rate, much better news than it
might have been. The waiting sucks, though, and you really
don't need any more doctors!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm not sure what they do if they come back positive. They took
enough blood though. I would assume that yes they would put me on a
immunosuppressant, steroids to keep the inflammation down ( I don't
want to take those, I'm hoping there is another option)
The tests yesterday were $710.00!!!!

More damn waiting for you, sweet Jane, that's gotta be
taking a toll, too. Your immune system sounds like it's
under siege. I wish I could do more than fervently hope for
a good outcome to all this -- but it's all I've got so I'll
just hope as often and as hard as I can for you.

It's exactly what my immune system is under. Good explination.
Thanks Gayle, it's not so bad the waiting, I think I'm getting used to
it. What do ya do ya know? So patience is something I have to do.

I'm sorry that you've had to get so good at being patient,
Jane, but, damn -- you are really good at it. It's easy to
say what else can ya do, but it really takes a lot of
strength to actually achieve it. imo. Good for you, grrrl,
and I'll be patient with ya. We can watch movies, if your
eyes are up for it. Or go for a stroll. The weather must be

I watch a TON of movies. It's the close up work that get's blurry and I
bought a pair of reading glasses from Wal-Mart. I'm not in pain anymore at
least my eyes aren't so it's not so bad. I have these floaters that are
annoying as heck. It's like looking through a debris filled "something" and
wanting to move the little things out of the way but they won't go away. I
can see them when I look at white back grounds like the computer, all kinds
of walls, outside in the sun. The weather is wonderful here this time of
year, perfect weather actually! Tonight Chris and I are going to a Hawaiian
themed birthday party so I broke out my Caribbean clothes, it'll be fun.
Thanks for all the comments and support, it's you all who keep me strong!

Don't let the floaters drive you crazy. I'm sure you could find some
good chaotic computer backgrounds and then just find some really ugly
wallpaper, so the walls don't look annoying too.

Actually I'm starting to get used to them, though I do try to pay attention
to them, so I can tell them if they're getting worse or better when I see
the doc. They've not gotten worse in the last couple weeks, but they've not
gotten any better either.

I'm sending lots of good vibes your way, but whatever the news, I hope
you get the test results back soon. Good or bad, at least that way you
know what you're dealing with and how to fight it.

Thanks Kylie,
I probably won't know the results until the 30th, regardless when they
come in. I don't see the specialist until the 30th, but I appreciate
