Well...
Just a quick update, the Iritis is gone but the Ophthalmologist has
now found cells in the Posterior (Back) of the eye, so my new
diagnosis is Bi-lateral Posterior Uveitis. Rare, very rare actually.
This ups the anti as far a seriousness, to the point that my
Ophthalmologist said I have to go see a Oculary Immunologist, this is
beyond his practice and he's been practicing as a Ophthalmologist for
30 years and only had one other case of Iritis and her's was
chemically induced from getting perm solution in her eyes. So it
seems I won the lottery on illnesses!
Anyway, I do have a message into the specialist but can't seem to get
him or his assistant to call me back. So for now my appt isn't until
February and well that might be just a little too far off. I'm
discouraged, depressed, and really feeling like ignoring the whole
freaking thing and just going on with my life, but then I will
probably go blind and what kind of life would that be? I just wish
someone else would call the doctors, schedule the appointments, get
the answers for me, I'll just go to the appointments and be treated
it's the begging for help that's wearing me down.
Well I'm going to go feel sorry for myself, I hate being pathetic.

it's the begging for help that's wearing me down.
I am very sensitive to this, Jane. I am sorry you find yourself in this
awful situation. I really hope the specialist contacts you soon. I know what
it is to need help and have the telephone silent. I wish I could offer you
some comfort. Get my good vibes and take very much care of yourself, please.

thanks my dear... I'm just holding out that the wait doesn't do more
damage. It's not painful anymore, which is a blessing, just a little
bothersome, like looking through dirt debris looking water... I think that
might be a good description. My vision is still 20/20 if I look through the
debris, but so annoying!!!

Did you ask if there's a cancellation list? I've gotten in
much earlier when on one. Also, sometimes having your current
doctor's office make the appointment, if they will, can get
you an earlier slot. Not always, but worth a shot.
Sorry to hear that you're still going through this crap. It's
the last thing you need right now.
I hope you get better news, or at least an earlier appt soon!

Because Posterior Uveitis is so complex it's hard to know where to
start. My Ophthalmologist doesn't even know "who" to refer me to.
There isn't a lot known about it and there are only 100 specialists
through out the US, so getting in is more of a draw of the straw and
lately I've not been very lucky, so now I'm just hoping the ol'eyes
hang in there until I can get into see this guy.

Hi AJ,
Falling down the stairs and hurting yourself regardless of how serious
or not that it is, is still a "real" problem. I imagine how much it
hurts, limping around, sore neck etc. You have every right to feel
crappy, just like I do, and you have every right to worry you damaged
something beyond what you feel right now, falling down the stairs is
no brush off matter.
There probably is a magic pill for my eyes, it's just getting all the
damn test done to find out the cause of it that I'm having a hard time
getting done.
Today is not a good optimistic day for me.

hey Jane, I just read this.... as incredibly rare as this is, i am
hoping for an equally rare cure, and/or miracle, so that your eyes and
eyesight will be fine. i too would be really depressed, discouraged,
etc. hopefully that specialist will get back to you, and soon. you
should have an appointment ASAP. if those doctors have any decency,
they'll contact you right away. especially with this being so rare.
at the very LEAST they can try to work on this because it'll give them
an oppertunity to do help something that's rarely out there. i mean
that's how i'd look at it if i was them. hopefully that'll translate
into the best of care for you.

that's how I thought about it too AJ. Figured these Ocular Immunologist

US, people are flying all over the country to save their visions, and I
happen to have one living and working less then an hours drive from me and I
can't get the ***** to return my call.

Well I'm going to go feel sorry for myself, I hate being pathetic.

hey Jane, I just read this.... as incredibly rare as this is, i am
hoping for an equally rare cure, and/or miracle, so that your eyes and
eyesight will be fine. i too would be really depressed, discouraged,
etc. hopefully that specialist will get back to you, and soon. you
should have an appointment ASAP. if those doctors have any decency,
they'll contact you right away. especially with this being so rare.
at the very LEAST they can try to work on this because it'll give them
an oppertunity to do help something that's rarely out there. i mean
that's how i'd look at it if i was them. hopefully that'll translate
into the best of care for you.
that's how I thought about it too AJ. Figured these Ocular Immunologist
must be bored with this being so rare, yet there are only 100 of them in the
US, people are flying all over the country to save their visions, and I
happen to have one living and working less then an hours drive from me and I
can't get the ***** to return my call.
I'd storm into his office and say:
"look, mr special doctor, you're the only one near me that has a
chance to save my vision, why didn't you return my call, isn't it your
oath to help heal those in need" etc.

It sucks you have to push like that. Do you have anyone at all who can
help? Or would that not help, is it just a waiting game?

Yeah right now it's a waiting game. This specialist is trying to pull
strings for me now, I just am pushing to find out if he was able to.
I do have an appointment for February but I can't wait that long. If
it comes down to it, I know what type of test I need and most of them
are through a rheumatologist, I think I may have AS (Ankylosis
Spondylitis) which is a Rheumatoid Arthritis of the spine, I also have
a IBD (Chrones or Ulcerative Colitis) There are a couple of blood
test to confirm that and once they start finding the Autoimmune
diseases that I have they treat those and it will start to
automatically treat the eyes. That's the thing Iritis/Uveitis is an
Autoimmune disease usually a side effect by other autoimmune diseases,
that's why I'm tryin to see this specialists, its far more complicated
then a normal Ophthalmologist line of practice or for that matter a
regular MD, jeeez I'm so special...
