Object: fashion trend among young women
I have noticed what seems to be a fashion trend among young women lately;
they dress in very revealing clothes. I'm not complaining, but sometimes I
have to struggle not to stare too obviously.

You need to work on your staring skills. Think of it as stealth
staring. On the subject of fashion, one day at a local mall, I saw a
young women wearing a shirt with the message on front: "I've got the
***** so I make the rules."

I saw a girl wearing a t-shirt that read, "In case of rape, this side up"
Gawd only knows why she thought it was funny.

I know eh? I remember thinking the same thing at the time. Could a smart,
slick lawyer could use that as a rapist's defense? I hate to think he
could.

Well, what's the usual rape defense? "It was consensual". Even a
court-appointed lawyer could phone this one in: "Ladies and gentlemen
of the jury, this is all just a simple misunderstanding. My client saw
the young lady's shirt and took it to be an invitation for rough sex,
perhaps with a bit of role-playing. He naturally assumed her attempts
to escape and cries for help were just part of the game." He could call
the victim to the stand and have her put the shirt on. Then all it
takes is one holdout and you've got a hung jury. You probably couldn't
even find a DA willing to prosecute, they'd see it as a waste of time.

Well, it seems to me that both were dismissing rape as "something that
happens" and trying to make light of it.

not exactly. the muslim dudes are saying that rape is the woman's fault. the
t-shirt logo is certainly ill-advised and not funny, but if the wearer of
the shirt got raped it would still not be her fault. harsh and unfair as it
may seem to some, men are required by law and morality not to sexually
assault anyone under any circumstances. when rape happens, it's always the
rapist's fault.
on another note, i shudder at the darkness of the mind that came up with
that cat/fresh meat analogy.

i reckon, particularly in the case of the member of the "Muslim Council
of Britain", they are being very dismissive and deliberately offensive.
But anyway, regardless of details we're agreed on the important aspect
of this: women can never be to blame if they are raped. Not even if
they're walking down the street in the nuddy.

on another note, i shudder at the darkness of the mind that came up with
that cat/fresh meat analogy.

I suppose the easy response would be "what do you expect from such a
misogynistic religion" but I'm sure not all muslims think the same way.
At least, I hope not...

Jesus Christ. I remember one time in 1974 sitting on a bus across from a
young woman wearing a patch on her jacket that had a picture of a drunk
cat and the words "happiness is a tight *****". I wonder how long it
took her to get the idea that that wasn't the smartest thing to be

It's hard to imagine that women (do men do this?) who dress revealingly
want people to look at them, and especially at what they're revealing.
'If you've got it, flaunt it'. You can't have a successful flaunt if no
one looks.

Sad.
Anti-sex feminism tried to make women into men and men into women, and
the result is that women and men did a 180 in rebellion. Now females
dress like whores, and males act like monkeys. Somewhere in the middle
would be nice. A little tacit nod to reality of our sexuality while at
the same time acting in public like something other than merely an ovary
or a sperm sac.
