fatigue, root beer, and the mail |
Have been feeling *really* tired lately. It's a nice
"clean" kind of tired, that goes away with sleep and I
don't have trouble sleeping. But I have a very short
active day. Could not possibly hold a job at this level.
Just now I recalled I felt somewhat like this when I
had bronchitis or something of the sort. It went away
with the right Abx. When I had it, I would wake up
alert and almost cheery then *collapse* a few hours later.
Back to the MD I guess. But there's no other symptoms.
(I nearly choked to death on green goo with the bronchitis)
I bought some root beer, hoping that sugar would help
me since the caffeine earlier didn't. Now I feel more
alert but I am not hungry. Should have waited to drink
it until after I ate. (I ate yesterday. And today. Don't
worry on that score)
I have the mailbox key in my hand. Will I go down and
get the mail? Stay tuned.

Hi, Contrarian.
I've been having a similar experience for, oh, months, but I can tell
it's a bug because of the small sweats I break into so easily. I
started taking lots of vitamins and that seemed to help, as long as I
kept it up. Now I feel better even on days I dont take a handful of
pills. I'm improving. I hope you do, too.

Huh. I have been wondering about dental factors, that's
not easily fixed.
Various psych Rx produce "small sweats" and sometimes
not so "small" Wellbutrin made me feel grubby, not quite
sweaty.
What vitamins do you take?

<grin> Whatever's handy. Let's see. At present, I just go through my
cupboard... a couple of grams of C, a B complex or two, a couple of
capsules of some kind of fish oil, two different brands of one-a-days,
creatin <laughing> in case I want to bulk up, oh, lets see, what
else... I don't take calcium just because I'm currently enjoying a
milk-fiend episode of some years standing, and I figure I get enough
calcium. Possibly others that I don't recall offhand. Another
B-something, I think. My mom was a firm believer in vitamins and
tonics. It is as a direct result of that upbringing, I firmly believe,
that my bod is taking longer to fall apart than other folks' I know.
My mind? That may be another story. But life goes on and... I'm still
pretty pleased. Cheers.

What's "root beer" and what roots is it made from? And are you sure
it's got beer in it?
Beer is a sacred thing: without beer there would be no civilisation and
hence no computers to post messages about so-called beer made from
stuff that beer's not made from.
I need a beer.

Maybe I didn't really *need* a laugh, but I'm grateful for the one you
supplied.

From wikipedia:
Root beer is a fermented beverage made
from a combination of vanilla, cherry
tree bark, licorice root, sarsaparilla
root, sassafras root bark (which is
carcinogenic), nutmeg, anise, and
molasses among other ingredients. Many
local brands of root beer exist, and
homemade root beer is made from
concentrate or (rarely) from actual
roots. Like alcoholic beer, root beer
has a thick and foamy head when poured.
Root beer is a predominantly North
American beverage, constituting about 3%
of the American soft drink market.
I need a beer.
I kinda detected that in some of yer posts.

Give me a "B" was the first clue -- but
I didn't get it then. I thought maybe
you were going to spell out yer screen
name. I'm slow -- but steady. It only
took another, oh, 4-5 posts about beer.

I want to go and live in the Czech Republic. They're nuts about beer
over there:
