Object: fear
how to help a person who's afraid, but she doesn't even know of what
exactly...?
she says she's afraid of feelings, of not being able to cope with them,
she's afraid of people, new situations, everything.
she only feels safe when somebody hugs her.
she suffers from depression and self-harms.
she visits a psychiatrist, but not very often, because of the lack of money
(and that's why she can't take up a serious therapy)
i'm her best friend and i don't know what to do...
(if you need more details, say so)

Is your friend getting any prescribed medication?
If she can find a local 'support group' to join, it might help - once she
can pluck up the courage to try; I know that won't be easy.
If she has access to the internet, ASD can be a good source of understanding
and advice.
As her best friend, please make allowances for he, try not to act shocked if
she hurts herself (and help her to clean up and get injuries seen by a
nurse or doctor if they're 'bad'); help her not to feel shame or
embarrasment, if you can. Hugs are good :))

Is your friend receiving professional therapy? Anti-depressants are good to
keep you functioning, but they won't fix her depression.

This newsgroup -Alt.Support.Depression. There are a few others around, too.

You are doing a good thing, Rhenna. I know, its hard to support someone with
depression - I have been and am on both sides of the story. Would you like
me to send you a few good links to sites about this sort of stuff? Maybe
they will help you and your friend.

Be there for her but don't put your life on hold either.

hm, in order not to hold my life back, after 4-5 years of taking care of
Her, i'm going to university to another city, on the other side of the
country... but i don't know how She'll cope without me.

There will be somewhere that she can go that has cheap/free counseling
surely? Where are you from?

Poland...
