That's the headline in today's paper. Jeez Louise.
"The Bush administration, seeking to revive an online-pornography law struck
down by the U.S. Supreme Court, has subpoenaed Google for details on what
users have been looking for on its popular search engine.
Google has refused to comply with the subpoena, and on Wednesday the Bush
administration asked a San Jose, Calif., federal judge to force the company
to do so.
Federal investigators already have obtained potentially billions of Internet
search requests made by users of major Web sites run by Microsoft, Yahoo!
and America Online, which all complied with the government request, issued
in August, a Justice Department official said Thursday.
The subpoena asks for a broad range of material from Google's databases,
including 1 million random Web addresses and records of all Google searches
from any one-week period, the Justice Department said."
There's more, but that was enough to freak me out.

The Colbert Report (repour), do you ever watch it? He did a segment on this
last night, saying that the concept of privacy has now reverted to "public-see".
It appears Canada is about to enter it's own dark period, election is on Monday.
I'll be bitching about it soon.

What are the choices in the election? We've had absolutely nothing about
it here, at least not in the sources I use.

Liberal, currently in power
NDP - socialist.
Conservative - they're going to win. Stephen Harper is very similar to Bush -
very Christian, elitist, and his eyes are absolutely dead. His platform is a
little bit Willie Horton (criminals should be left to rot in jail forevermore),
anti gay marriage, anti abortion, etc.

The Canadians I know all sound rather desperate to me
because of the expected upcoming election disaster.

Lots of us are but unfortunately, the current more moderate government has been
in power far too long and was beset with corruption scandals which make them
very difficult to vote for. Me, I'm voting socialist, at least if we have a
very strong minority government they will not be able to do much.

Oh, well. There're these:
<http://tor.eff.org/>
<http://www.privoxy.org/>
<http://tor.eff.org/download.html.en>
<http://www.socks.nec.com/Download/SocksCapDownload/index.asp>
<http://www.socks.nec.com/TechnicalResources/SOCKSFAQ/SocksCapFAQ.asp>
SocksCap is pointed to Privoxy and Privoxy to Tor. Socks-capable programs
are pointed to Privoxy as proxy server. Non-socks-capable programs are run
through SocksCap. Let the bogeymen wonder about the encrypted stream of
innocuous traffic; give them something to do.

This is so damn funny.
They want to determine how often Google search results include porn. They
must be new here. Uh... I don't need Google's historical information to
answer that question. It's 100%... if it wasn't for porn there never would
have been an Internet.

There was porn on the Internet before the Web arrived. That seems
