feel sad and have no logical reason why I should feel sad and am in need of medication recommendations |
Hi all,
Yes I posted this to the ADD newsgroup, but wanted to gain others thoughts
from other newsgroups as well.
I have ADD without hyperactivity and am already pursuing medication to
alleviate the symptoms of inattention.
But I have another problrm that I am just now finding out about and seeking
to solve.
Some days I wake up and though I quickly get out of bed, I just feel like
quitting life - not suicide, but running away in search of a place that
might make me happier. Though I can find no rational for it. I'm sad and
can find no logical reason for why I should be sad. I mean, I am an
environmentalist and know that rather than running away from the world and
its problems you have to stay and work from within the system to fix them.
I also am a perfectionist, not in organization or door-locking but in how I
wish the world could be.
My therapist doesn't (yet) know about all fo this, which I will tell him
about next appointment, but he mentioned mood stabilizers.
Can anyone describe any mood stabilizers that do not make you drowsy because
I am a college student?
Can anyone recommend I ask my psychiatrist about any other types of
medication?
.

BTW, often this sadness makes it difficult to concentrate.

There are tons of meds out there. You could check out Nom de Plume's
,eds page.
Even when a med causes drowsiness, this is a side effect that often
goes away in time, or can be optimized by taking it at night. You just
need to have a good discussion with your therapist, and preferably
with a psychiatrist who knows about meds.

I don't know how genuine your post is, but if you are indeed genuine, then
may I suggest a name change otherwise you are going to be seen in a different
light to that intended.

ADD and depression often go together and mania (which, to my knowledge, is
always alternated with depression)and ADD can look alike.
So i think it is improtant to figure out first what is the matter before
deciding on mood stabilisers or any ohter meds. I think a real life expert
would be the best way to got.
Hope that helps (a little).
