feeling better today |
so far, i don't feel particularly anxious, depressed, irritable, or
angry today.
i have taken 3 x 1 mg xanax today, of which 2 mg were taken a short
while ago (but long enough for it to take effect). now i feel calm
enough to go to the grocery store (i suffer from severe social anxiety).
no matter what happens, i'm unlikely to have a panic attack with 2 mg
xanax in my system.
if i should become irritable or angry, i will try to take deep breaths
and count to ten. hopefully that should help me calm down.
it isn't fun to suffer from severe anxiety and depression, with bipolar
tendencies (although my pdoc doesn't think i'm bipolar, since i only had
one euphoric hypomanic episode, which was triggered by st john's wort).
usually, i just get extremely irritable, angry, impulsive, and agitated,
or get into a hyperfocused, hyperactive, restless state. in my pdoc's
opinion, only euphoria is a symptom of manic depression, so he doesn't
think i'm bipolar.

Hope so. There are also ADs that can help with social anxiety. (I've
been on one of them for 11 years.)

Diagnostically, the euphoria needn't always occur with a manic or
hypomanic episode. The criteria from the DSM-IV for a manic episode are
availble at the URL given below. Note that irritability in place of
euphoria can justify a diagnosis of mania (or hypomania, when the
symptoms are less pronounced).
