Object: Feeling depressed
I don't know why but lately I've been feeling rather depressed. I don't
know if it's because of SAD, the time of the month, or what; I just feel
depressed. I'm going for med check group this coming Friday and was
wondering if I should bring this up at the session.
Any help is appreciated; thanks in advance.

It seems like your depression has only come on very recently.
Have you suffered from it before or is this the first time?
My suggestion is based on my own experiences:
When I feel depressed for no obvious reason,
I decide by myself
that I will enjoy it and make the best of it!
Sounds silly, but it worked for me.
These days, I link any depression-feelings to
a pessimistic self-obsession.
And usually, getting up off my backside and
doing something helpful or active seems
to kill the feeling, for I realise there's always
someone suffering much more than I,
and I feel kinda guilty for being so selfish.
And then I am OK again.
And, after time, depression is now but
a small, insignificant emotion for me,
deserving little attention.
All the best for you.

Roland,
This isn't the first time I felt like this; I felt like this a few months
ago. Then I was taking antidepressants which seemed to help. I don't know
whether I'm depressed because of the winter weather or because I'm expecting
my period any day now; I usually feel depressed at the time I'm expecting my
period. I'll take your suggestion of going with the flow and hope things
turn out.

LOL! "Go with the flow"
ROLF!
I hope you intended that pun
because it was one of the funniest I've seen, ever!
And if you didn't intend it,
well, going only by what you said,
you're a relative newbie to depression
and that in itself should help you realise
that you're still pretty much in control.
Good for you!

We should try harder.)

Yes, bring it up with the med check group. You may
be asked some questions that will help you
articulate any symptoms. That's probably the best
first step to take, Christine, and good luck with it.
