Object: feeling guilty
set out glue traps for spiders and insects which are many down here in this
basement as I don't like the possible hazards of pesticides. Caught a bunch
of ants which are coming in too quickly from the back door entrance. Felt
real guilty seeing the helpless ants struggle on the glue.
I know this sounds silly probably, but I don't like to see anything suffer,
except the 2 insects I hate the most, other than that, no. Not even the
brown recluse spiders that were numerous in our house up for sale (now
that's a selling point!). Not saying I kept them as pets, but squish them
and end it for them and me. None of this slow stuff on glueboard. I feel
cruel. I'm not trying to be petty either, I really do feel badly for this
though. Then don't do it? I don't want to continue to be bit by the things
biting me and the kids at night.

Nothing like that. Always careful to not get hit with the 20,000 volt anode
in TV though.

I don't think it sounds silly. I think glue traps are cruel. I don't kill
anything unless it's attacking me. I leave the ants alone unless they get on
me and bite me. And spiders I definitely just catch and put outside.

I once put a piece of fly paper on the floor at a shop in the inner city my
family used to own. The building was over-run with mice. Within half an
hour a mouse got stuck on the thing.
I felt bad also. I spent about ten minutes trying to pry the little guy
off the paper without breaking his legs.

Find out what attracts the ants, and remove it. Clean up any food
scraps, remove trash etc. The ants leave scent trails, so you should
wash all surfaces that they have been walking on.

I have been pouring ammonia on them, and their nests.
